Do they give long and overly detailed explanations of their whereabouts?

Hi honey. It’s late, where you been?

Your Partner: Um oh Yeah. Well I left work at 5 as usual, but then I ran into my friend Brett, you know him, and he asked me to go for a drink. We went to Barfly’s on Smith St and had a drink and then he said he was hungry so we grabbed some food. I had the chicken wings – I think I’ve got the credit card receipt here somewhere. Then I was gonna come straight home but I couldn’t get a cab, so Brett said he’d drive me home later once he sobered up a bit. So we went back to his place which is just round the corner from Barfly’s, but Brett fell asleep and my phone was flat and I couldn’t ring you, I would have charged it but Brett has a Galaxy and no iPhone charger. So I had to wait for him to wake up and then he drove me home. Here you can ring him and check with him if you don’t believe me.”

I would have bet $1m that my husband wouldn't have cheated on me. I am now of the opinion that all men, even the seemingly good ones, have the ability to be wankers!!

Historically, women who wish to maintain their social position in society have always had to turn a blind eye to "affairs"

There is absolutely nothing new in this... The only thing that IS new is the media intrusion into peoples private lives and exposure of such mutually beneficial set ups....

It's only the lower classes that marry for " love" after all

So is it beyond the realms of comprehension that they actually really like and are really good friends each other first and love each other second ? Same with Wayne and Coleen after all we dont really know how they get along do we.

It's not just power couples that stay together after infidelity either. The main problem I see with infidelity isn't the sex.... it's the lies and deception that go along with that. Nothing worse that a Partner that lies and is deceptive for any reason.

Beyond not getting along with ones partner to a almost hateful state.... which is unimaginable in my book as how on earth did you get together in the first place. The first thing that would get me out of the door would be Gambling or Alcholism...Chronic lies and deception would see me disappear as well. Violence on either side would be a quick bye bye as well.

Ergo if a bloke or woman is going to play up.... try and do it without lying and being deceptive.... as those lies and deceipt will always be remembered the act may well get forgotten or at least the feelings diminish over time. If you cant do it without lying... Then dont do it.

There's also a chance of a "Perfect Storm" of coincidence and consequence.

Not sure I get what you mean.

Regardless of circumstances, each party still makes a conscious choice.

We ALL have the ability to be unfaithful, even those of us who may require bags on our heads;), but it is up to the individual to make that choice.

Alcohol can diminish inhibitions and usually plays a major factor in one night dialliances.

A person can be down a pub/club after a real bad couple of months at home..... In comes some tall promescious blond kiwi lass.... with a very likeable personality etc etc etc. Could be lots of scenarios. Thats what I mean by perfect storm, a lot of events coming together to place someone in that situation.

That almost sounds as if it's excusable. It's not. Regardless of the situation, a choice is made. Whether to be unfaithful or not. Simples.
