I thought the lump was a stiffy. Gives a whole new meaning to pitching a tent now you can pitch a burqa

The more you contemplate the advantages the more it appeals. No more stinking of deet now your head to to in your own mozzie net. No more problems choosing fancy dress costumes. No more sunblock routine. Get up later because you don't need to preen in front of the mirror. No more expensive trips to the hairdresser, just a buzz cut so no more expensive shampoo & conditioner.
Mandatory Burqa's now!

You can't ban it.....but you can control it.

Every Burqa should be registered and the full name and address of who owns it can be printed on the back.

That way we'll all know who they are without having to ask or check their identity.

Thumbs down Re: Should Aus ban the Burqa?

The burqa is a political statement;not a religious one. There is no requiremnet in islam to wear one;it is at best cultural[Saudi Arabia] or Tribal[Somalia].The requirement of the koran is that a woman dresses modestly. What this woman is actually saying is that she detests the society which allows her this privilege[that is the same for her supporters at the court]

Just out of interest. Does the Quran single out women for dressing modestly or does it suggest both men and women dress modestly?

It's just part and parcel of the Islamification of this country.

As far as I am aware it is only women. The verse normally used to suggest women use a veil is Surah 24:31. It doesn't say completely cover up though.

24:31 And tell the believing women to lower their gaze and be modest, and to display of their adornment only that which is apparent, and to draw their veils over their bosoms, and not to reveal their adornment save to their own husbands or fathers or husbands' fathers, or their sons or their husbands' sons, or their brothers or their brothers' sons or sisters' sons, or their women, or their slaves, or male attendants who lack vigour, or children who know naught of women's nakedness.

I think adornment means "private parts".

Why would they show their private parts to their husband's fathers??? It just means their womanly beauty, natural femininity, or not showing too much flesh- remember, once upon a time a nicely turned ankle was considered a turn on, whilst you could show cleavage without too much comment.

Unless, of course, you want to totally humilate someone.

Why not introduce a system like they have in the UK, where, if a person's identity can't be ascertained for the service of a summons (or ticket), then a power of arrest can be invoked in order to conduct further inquiries?

This is the s25 power under PACE in the UK - but that would soon sort it out. You either assist the dealing officer in making a positive identification, or you are arrested and go back to the station where the relevant inquiries can be made.
