Why will "they" bother saying such things in the first place?

This kind of article about 'hunting down sharks' is one of those peculiar idiosyncrasies that a British Ex-pat such as myself, comes across from time to time.

I guess I'll never really understand what it is to be an Australian until I've figured out how to hunt down a shark.

They're not really hunting it down to kill it I don't think, they've not killed a shark in any of the fatal attacks over the last 20 years or so as they're protected. They just go looking for them to keep an eye on where they are and keep the beach closed for the period the shark is in the area from what I understand.

Edited to add: I think they did kill the tiger shark that got my nephews friend in Broome about 16 years ago when they were Pearl Diving because I remember they found his remains in it's stomach.

I guess we'll never know what it is to want a shark killed until it's killed one of our friends or family. There's no right answer to this, IMO.

Can we direct Bear Grylls to the trouble spot?

Preferably with a nosebleed.

There is some kind of Tour arranged to squeeze some more cash out of this?

I honestly didn't know.

Well, fair play to him, if he can make a profit let the people decide

I kind of look at shark attacks as I do gun attacks in the US.

Everyone knows that concise action is required to save lives (i.e. selective annual cull - fire arms ban). But the fck wits that have authority to do so, will continue to find reasons not to.

And thus, there will be more threads like this in the future - started when the next poor bugger is eaten alive.

Sure is. A complete cult, if you ask me.
