Totally disgusted and ashamed of my countrymen who voted No. Westminster has retained its cash cow and whipping boy. Their promises will disappear, the No voters will get what they deserve. Unfortunately, the Yes voters will suffer as well.

That's a double edged sword you'd have been saying suck it up to the losing no voters. Your countrymen have done you proud by turning out in their millions to make their decision. My hat would go off to em no matter what

Westminster was stung into action by the strength of the Yes campaign the closer the referendum got (the announcement of the 3 main parties giving a timetable for more devolved powers a fortnight before 18/9); many of those who voted No only did so on the basis of the promise of greater powers for Holyrood over tax, welfare and health etc.
Perhaps the remarkable thing for the UK as one of the BBC academic analysts pointed out is that it has forced Constitutional change in the UK. Cameron's speech specifically said more powers will be given to the Welsh and Northern Ireland assemblies and the West Lothian question will be addressed in England - English voting on matters affecting England. That's the legacy of the Scottish referendum.

Re: Scotland and Independance
During the emigration process it's surprising how many people say stuff like "we were going to do that" or "wish we had done that' or "we may do that". The truth is that only a very small percentage do because it's easier and safer to stick with what they know. The comfort zone.
I think the same is true of this vote. There weren't enough balls up the kilt to risk a new future for the nation. Maybe a lot of balls have already emigrated.
I don't think it's necessarily the wrong decision for those people but it stems from fear of the unknown. A lot would observe that is a sensible thing to do. However if there were a lot more concrete facts and conditions on the table maybe the vote would have been different.
Don't be ashamed of your compatriots as they only did what they considered was best for Scotland.
Now when do we get our Kernow vote?

I think that's the point. There was way too much rhetoric about emotion, pride, arrogance, mud slinging (as usual in elections) etc and not enough hard facts as to why it should happen, what would happen and how it would all work.

Yep, it's just that a lot of people think because he worked in the oil industry in Aberdeen (well as an oil economist for RBS) and has represented Aberdeen East at Westminster and Banff and Buchan at Holyrood that he comes from there.

And a couple of images. Giving the vote to 16 and 17 year olds was a wise tactic by Salmond as they mostly voted Yes. I guess the image shows how they would be likely to vote more out of passion than with their head as well?
I guess this sums up the feelings of 45%:

That street scene looks so familiar. So next time I see a Sweaty Sock in a pub banging on about something I can just remind him he is a proud member of the Union and send him home to think again.
I love Scotland - always have done.
This Sassenach has not always had a good welcome north of the border and had been banned from at least one family home but it was all in the name of good times. My wife came of age north of the border - where it is still twilight at midnight..
cheers
