Now that is cool! I meant I have seen them so many times:D. Sounds like a great night indeed...

That sounds like my kind of show. I will definitely give this one a go.

Some might not know that Alcatraz and Terra Nova, two "glossy sci-fi" programmes I bailed out on after a handful of episodes, have both been cancelled - unsurprisingly most would say.

I downloaded the first episode last night and watched, was pretty good (and no plastic acting either). Looking forward to the proper tv screening of the series when it starts, think it's next week.

(Just to point out it was Last Resort I downloaded last night!!).

Sadly nobody - all of the US networks have declined to pick it up. I believe that the Pilot episode has been made, but nobody seems willing to screen that either.

There was talk of it being released in an online format. maybe we will get to see the pilot one day, but it's not looking good for a full length series :(

Watched Last Resort - again, lots of potential but lacking with plenty of holes

Ballistic missile subs are not used to pick up special forces
Even the shittiest little island nation will have a government - not run by some local warlord
Exploding a Trident D5 ICBM 200 miles off the east coast of the US is still going to kill a lot of people, aka sailors

We'll see

Meh and disappointing just about sums it up.

I really liked her in the comics, but she didn't translate as well in the show.

An IT guy who's a Trekkie? Never! ;):D

I've been catching up on recently released movies lately. Watched Prometheus the other day, which was not as bad as I'd heard. Thought it was quite alright actually. I also watched Total Recall 2012 yesterday, which made me fall in instant lust for Kate Beckinsale. I know what my recall would be! :o

Agreed. It seems everyone these days is obsessed with TV and/or sci-fi. I've really noticed it this last few years.
I overheard 2 20 somethings (they weren't even kids) talking their way through their lives...full of 'like', and this 'show' and that 'show'. It was as if TV defines their day...and their lives.

That's a majority of BE described right there

For the UK in general too

Me included, that's all I do these days - go to work, go home watch telly. If it's summer add "attend 2 or 3 firecalls" a week to the list but it's mainly telly.

I usually only watch 1 hour a night, sometimes 2 if there is something that I really want to see. Even then it is usually downloads not TV

Internet, study, reading for the rest

Harsh? It does seem sometimes that TV does define people in a way it didn't a generation ago - I don't think we are richer for the increasing content or streams, apart from instant choice. I fear my kids will grow up talking in that sort of TV babble. Who knows. When I was 17 I was jumping out of aeroplanes and doing it for real - the people I knew just wanted to watch it on TV and say it was 'cool'. 'Can you, like, choose the colour of your parachute?' Nowadays I'd rather people go for a run or exercise, instead they want to watch Episode 2, Season 4 (this obsession with owning 'seasons') of some weirdball series that will do nothing for their intellect or tell them anything about their world. Mention to parts of the office (generally it is the IT support/ ops people) that you read the newspaper and am interested in current affairs...not so popular!

I'm the same. I only watch about 2 hours of TV a week, and maybe one movie on SBS.
