It would be nice to SEE the running gear that has been donated. Preferably when they are wearing them and competing

Actually its australian TV covering a world event, which includes many teams, australia has 231 races living in melbourne city alone, so I am sure many people would like to see other teams. Theres probably some aussies who are interested in the rest of the world too. Maybe they should all go to bangladesh as well.

It is a great achievement for them.

I wonder if the Foxtel rights have anything to do with what coverage Channel 9 can actually show??
Given they've got about 7 channels or something dedicated to it I would of thought they would pretty much show every single event from qualifying through to finals, you'd get to see everyone from every nation then.
The deal allowing Channel 9 to cover it may of only allowed them to show coverage of Australian participants.
Just a thought.

We've talked about it a lot at work (the coverage of the Rugby 7s only showing the 2nd half of the final, the swimming medal presentations being cut, not having a clue what the heck was going on live or recorded because of the cutting, not even seeing some events because there isn't an aussie in them...) but and even the Aussies get fed up of it after a while.
What struck me the most, though, was that when the large woman won gold in (i think) the shot putt, she was cheered and celebrated. At that point, you could have turned over to The Biggest Loser and seen a number of woment with the same physique being mocked and derided. Double standards anyone?
Still, at least we get to watch the games in the right time zone - the same can't be said for most sports (F1, world cup, etc etc)

We are really missing out in some fantastic events, because there’s not an Australian in it or they have been put out?????
Really fed up with it and will never watch another.

Just remember that bias is a result of the channel's decision; it has nothing to do with local attitudes. I remember that Channel 7 was heavily chastised by the Australian public for its biased coverage of the 2000 Olympics.

I've run the gamut of emotions on this topic. Started off laughing, then grinding at my teeth at the number of times I'd watched and heard Advance Australia Fair, then rolling my eyes at some of the appalling commentary.
I now understand that with Australia winning so many medals, and with limited coverage time, the stuff we see is of course going to be dominated by Aussie athletes. In the UK, we don't win that many, so there is time to see other people competing!!
If you are lucky enough to be at home in the afternoons there's been some brilliant coverage of the women's weight lifting. Only one Aussie in sight. Lots of small countries featuring, and the most fantastic (if slightly eye poppingly awful) commentary. The guys refer to the women as 'darlin' and their commentary is so relaxed and blokey, I'm sure they're in a pub somewhere. The indian women have been brilliant.
Moral of story. Pick your sport.

There has been fabulous full coverage, often non-stop for 12 hrs or more, on BBC and its BBCi interactive channels. I must have heard the Aussie national anthem at least two dozen times in the last few days. The Beeb has shown virtually every single heat and final of cycling, swimming, athletics, gymnastics, etc as well as many games of rugby, netball, hockey, including loads of stuff that Brits aren't involved in. Plus there's heaps more that I didn't watch.
IMO, the full BBC coverage has been thorough and provided a great cross-section of nations. Cant comment on the shorter 'highlights' progs, but obviously bits have to left out somewhere!

Sport takes more than one team unless australia is just playing with itself
so show some other teams. They didnt mind showing Canadians when they won medals for australia did they. Besides its just plain rude to totally ignore who won the gold and just show how OZ went.

It was very hard to keep track of world events when we lived in Oz - I mean the news coverage was laughable. I sometimes wonder if Aussies really know what's going on outside of their country...
