Is Channel 9 not an Australian TV channel for Australian people living in Australia
I agree the coverage is biased, but how can you expect anything any different, you wouldnt expect to watch the beeb and spend the whole time seeing Aussies would you.
The public are generally interested in who wins and where people they know come, Australia have won most things worth winning and the rest of the coverage has largely been spent covering Aussies, as this is what Australians want to see.
There not going to be interested in whether Daley Thompson has won the decathlon or not are they

Any sport events always like that, and if an aussie loses you have to endure the news opening headline as Darleene Ramsey aussie gold medal olympian tragically struck from the games and now in hospital with a cold sore

Did you not know the Aussies were sport obsessed before you got here.......?
My hubby is an aussie and has always commented on the bias in the UK sports coverage of such events (he lived in UK for nearly 20 years). Every country does it.
There was a lovely interview with David Davies (Welshman) when he thrashed the opposition in the pool the other day - and they showed the medal ceremony.
The games'll be over soon. World Cup soon - can't wait.

- how would an Aussie athlete & their family & friends feel if they trained & worked their guts out for years & years to get to be good enough to compete somewhere like the Commonwealth Games & then to not have their moment recorded & televised because Channel 9 was showing the medal ceremony of a guy from Bangladesh who got Bronze in something we dont even compete in?
Just like Scossie was getting his knickers in a knot because they didnt show the scottish swimmer guy's medal ceremony, Im an aussie & Id be cheesed off if they showed that & not some aussie athlete competing.Of course the telecast will be mostly about Aussies - just remember too how many Aussie althletes are competing, how many medals we have won & how much telecast time they actually have!

Used to fancy the socks off him
Don't mind so much them showing the medal ceremony for each and every Aussie, but it would be nice to see the ceremony if another nation won something, but Aussie's came second or third, that way, the Aussie would still be on screen but we might here another national anthem. Nice to see the English whip the Aussie backsides at lawn bowls though

It is a great achievement for them.
If the BBC failed to telecast any of the UK athletes competing or winning medals in the commonwealth games or Olypmics, you'd all be jumping up & down
.BTW, in case you didnt realise - it's all happening on home soil, just more home for some than others
