I want to buy Alan one of these dvd video cam recorders
Havn't got bucket loads of money
But like the look of
Panasonic VDR-D250
Sony DCRDVD 755
and the
Cannon DC22
Any referals or recommendations any one???????
edit to say: want one that records straight onto dvd to send home to the UK for playing (even though a pressie for Alan, it has to do what i want and need )

Sony would get my vote, i bought a Sony DCR-DVD403E and it's has been brilliant. Been using it for about a year and have yet to find anything wrong with it.
Have you looked at the new camcoders with hard drives built in, i would consider buying one of those if i was buying now. Sony DCR-SR range or JVC's Everio GZ-MG range gets good reviews.
Cheers

Hard drive means he has to put it onto disc, (like wait forever la la la )

With the Sony you just touch a button on the screen when your finished using the disk and it sets the dvd disk up for using in a normal dvd player, then pop it in the post... sorted. Even i managed to figure it out in a couple of minutes

I shall have a look at that one, although i'm limited to cost now which is why i chose the ones above,
but i shall have a look and if i can get it cheaper in the UK, have a friend going over soon for a couple of weeks, i shall get them to pick one up for me there and bring it back if better value
