Horrednous amounts of water up there. EMQ were issuing evacuation alerts around midnight in some areas due to flash flooding in rivers on the Tablelands.

The monsoon is VERY active, and in combination with fresh to strong SE'ly winds to its south, is expected to produce further rain areas and thunderstorms. Heavy rainfall will lead to flash flooding along the coast and adjacent ranges between Cooktown and Ayr.

Peak rainfall area seems to be around Townsville today - some stations have recorded over 260mm since 9am (thats about 12 hours)

I can't believe the amount of rain falling up there, 200mm + every day for the last 4-5 days, and no sign of it stopping yet.
