Re: President Donald Trump
Oh, this is going to be interesting.
The religious, right wing, loony Supreme Court Justice, Antonin Scalia, he of the daft statements and obstruction, has just popped his clogs.
Antonin Scalia, conservative US Supreme Court justice, dies - BBC News
Nobody is mourning, and everyone is calculating - this is a US election year and the US Senate is gummed up - yet appointing a new Judge has never before taken more than two months. If the repubs delay and delay this, they will look bad (the narrative of republican incompetence will run and run), yet if they let Obama appoint someone to his liking the rabid wing of the party will scream.
And an even more interesting concept rears it's head. If they don't appoint someone by the time Obama leaves office, then the next Democrat president, supported by a Senate that's likely to turn Democrat, could appoint Obama to the Supreme court (remember, lawyer).
A lot of game plans just got torn up - a new battlefield has just opened.

Re: President Donald Trump
Despite the fact that he is not really right-wing, I've got to admit I quite like Donald Trump. I liked how he got stuck into Jeb's brother, George W. He's certainly not part of the establishment that's for sure - his rise is another sign that the majority that have been duped by the political elite of the west for decades are starting to question and also starting to get angry.......
But like I said, he's not right-wing enough. America and the rest of the free world needs a hard-right hawk in the White House. Someone who is going to sort out their debt, reduce the size of their government, knock islam on its ass, smash Iran and North Korea, stand up to China

Well he doesn't like the Bushes, so perhaps you might have something in common with him after all

The funny thing is, Trump attacked tweedledumber in the heartland of support for him and the war in Iraq - and obviously got booed as a result. From the point of view of a salesman, that's a strange move - pissing off the rabid GOP voters just before a vote. My guess is the attack on Dubya, and on Jeb! is targeted on 'super tuesday' (1st March) - where I'd guess trump wants to smack down his opponents in a hard way. The fact that Jeb! was the target makes me think he wants him out before he can have a resurgence in the south.
Not sure who Trump is paying to deliver an optimised strategy, nor how much - but you have to admit, they are lining up the game at least two moves ahead of the other bozos. He isn't authentic, he's lying through his teeth, but it's a finely honed Blitzkrieg of bullsh*t.

Thing is, some people, many people even, do think he's for real - not least of which the bigots who's views he's aping to get selected.
As I say, that he's taken seriously is the bigger problem.
And in the vein of not taking him seriously :

You know what, just maybe, he might make a good Pres. Ouch oh no come the cries.
After all, you can put the blow dryer to his hair, much the same as you can with Boris Johnson, and look what London got, a near faultless mayor.
I wonder.

Re: President Donald Trump
So closer to sanity, and to me, possibly even someone who would fit in the democrats (lite right).
- he's a out and out liar - so you can't trust anything he says.
- he's an egotistical narcissist, a mental disorder. As such he would do things that were good for him, rather than the country/world AND he would be so easy to bait into doing stupid things. In fact I wonder that the other repub candidates haven't realised that they could manoeuvre him into cutting his own throat (OK, I'm not surprised, they aren't really that smart).
Internationally risible f**kup, more like. And remember, Boris is smarter and less ego driven than Trump, running just a city.

See, I think you are missing something here. If you accept that he's lying his head off - by definition that means he's less far right that the other repub bozos.

Nope. Problems are
Faultless????

Good old left wing tax dodging Ken.
2. Perhaps those traits is why he's been successful in business. And perhaps that's the type of business head you need running a country. Just perhaps Garry.

Re: President Donald Trump
Going bankrupt is a business strategy. Paul Allen (microsoft) has used it as have many others. Right or wrong...a legal procedure. It is not total but structured bankruptcy. Disclaimer I do not give a shhet about the Donald.

Some who still has a passing acquaintance with truth and reality ?
OK, since you ask, what we need (or the US for that matter) is someone that's not a career paid liar, that can deal with the reality of what the data says, accept it, see the big picture, then make reasoned strategic direction from it.
What's needed is not someone with mental issues, and someone who wants the job not because they want to be cock-of-the-hill, but because they realise they are needed to fix the f**king mess that most countries are in.
Oh, and who are not career politicians either.
You'd have thought if you put that job ad out there, you'd be able to find at least some qualified applicants.

I've never seen a perfect leader therefore it helps to look beyond the big blow dry hair and big ears.

Re: President Donald Trump
I thought that the basic idea is that ANYONE who is eligible can become president of the USA?
Bankruptcy? A non-issue. Winston Churchill only avoided bankruptcy by the skin if his teeth because his banker mates bailed him out. He went on to be one of the greatest statesmen that has ever lived
Successful/unsuccessful businessman? A non-issue. Were Merkel/Thatcher/Clinton/Mandela/whoever successful/unsuccessful business people?
All I see is democracy in action. Yes, it's flawed but there is no better system
The people will decide
