It used to run about the garden, gambolling like a lamb. I'm actually quite upset about it. I think we'll have to get another one just like him.
Rats in the roof are come and go but every year I chuck about 15 or 20 baits up there and most of the previous years baits have been taken.

You will find it hard to get rid of them long term. They will eventually come back. If possible you might want to invest in a Possum house in a nearby tree, that can often attract them away from the roof.

You can try hanging some Campher in the loft, they don't like the smell and should leave after a couple of days. Buy Campher at the local hardware Bunnings / Mitre 10 /Masters etc. When they have gone, cover up the hole where they were getting in.
If you use a trap and catch one, local council regs say you must release it within 50m of where you found it. Bugger 'em ( the council ) , take it 10kms away and let it go there - someone else can have it.

Interestingly, the is the first Possum that I have seen in my area in the 8 years that we've lived here. Every other form of wildlife is in abundance , but not Possums. 2kms away though it's Possum city
