Please take a long holiday first.
Learn from my mistakes folks.
Please do not judge Australia on these glossy TV programmes as I did. I
went over as an electrician and had to work hard 6 days a week just to make ends meet, it has cost me thousands of pounds to realise I could not hack the way of life or the wages, go with eyes wide open and you might love it.

Alot of people soon realise they are working twice as hard for the same or less money!! food etc is twice as much so you lose both ways!!
Sunshine is nice but flies and redbacks soon ruin that!!!!

I know what you mean mate. I bought this rice cooker after watching a long advert about it on TV and it's shit! Works no faster than a pan of boiling water on the stove and is a pig to clean afterwards!

What nonsense. When I call an electrician in to do any work he charges $75p/h and he's bloody cheap compared to others.

How would anyone decide to move after watching such a tv programme ?
If it were Michael Palin's show then perhaps, but then again, he travels to some undesirable places. Maybe a read of "down Under" by Bill Bryson would be a good reference too

I fail to see the rudeness, I am an individual, not a clone of anyone else.

Personally, researching the salary I could expect to be earning, if my qualification was recognised, and how what I could earn fitted with the cost of living was one of the first areas I looked at - its the only way that I could establish whether we would be able to make the move without ending up broke the other side of the planet. OH is rather specialised in what he does, so I needed to be sure that we could survive on my money first. As far as hours goes, I work stupid hours now, it would need to be ludicrous before it made things worse.

It's all in the way you express your opinion, like the OP is an idiot. Not everybody likes it here but I don't believe they should be belittled for expressing their feelings on the matter.
