Perth Mint - a half day visit, a good bit of history for Perth!

Mundaring Weir - some amazing views of the rolling hills and the weir as well as a lovely lunch at the local Mundaring Hotel ( with live music if you time it right)

Cohuna Wild life park - a bit run down but still worth a visit:thumbsup:

Rockinham Beach - clean and calm, excellent for the family if you have younger children, no sudden drops and no wild surf!

Boat trip down Swan river to Fremantle - even if you don't get off the boat, well worth the trip to see the river side houses and views!

Lesmurdie Falls - fab views of Perth and the flats, see the waterfall, Barbie area and picnic area, bush walks with amazing views!

Has no-one mentioned Penguin Island ? I went there a couple of weeks ago on a beautiful sunny Sunday and loved it. My 5 year old found a sea-lion asleep in one of the beach caves !

Done the prison visit last year, the night one too. Very interesting. I wouldn't go again, unless it was to take visiting family or friends for something to do.

Who was your guide? We had steve when we went he was fantastic and really expressive. :)

Did Lesmurdie Falls from the top last year but went to the bottom park yesterday and walked along the stream until we got to the bottom of the falls - very impressive and hardly anyone there.

we had someone called steve too and we did the tour in 2002!

he was good - he told us that the tour guilds were all either ex cons who had been in the prision or wardens from the prision - this was back in 2002 so it may have changed since

if it isn't please dont let on - i have such lovely memories that i would like to keep them as they are

In the Uk we liked going for a drive in country to find a nice pub. Here we have a pleasant drive inland to the Jarradale Tavern-its a big old pub in jarradale(der) and does fabulous pub food-last food orders at 2.00 during the day so get there in time. there is also a winery nearby too.
The Perth Mint is really interesting-worth another mention.
