I know Oscar personally, and I recall our childhood minster repeatedly pointing out incidences where the devil attempted to take control of him. When the devil took his legs, it was because he didn't want Oscar to succeed. Despite that, Oscar did, now the devil has returned to try and put him away... But he will not succeed. Not while Jesus Christ, our Lord and Saviour, has Oscar in his pocket. Go away, devil! Go away!

It is South Africa you understand, justice, (whenever it actually happens) grinds very slowly, and there were a slew of public holidays in-between (like elections) that shuts everything down. If Oscar is put away for a month for this evaluation, everything screams to a halt for another month whilst they then haggle which expert has the right assessment. This may take quite a while.

Present anxiety and stress is quite different past accusations of anger and trigger happy.

Have you ever been up in front of a judge, convinced of your own innocence, with the cloud of prison hanging over you day in day out?

You should try it sometime, it aint pleasent, in fact its the pits. Stress and anxiety is an understatement.

No, but I never shot someone through a bathroom door while assuming my OH was fast asleep 2m away.

So he's probably stressed to the max. If that's what his defence has called it is what it is. I can't imagine he's lying about stress levels.

I imagine facing a life sentence in a South African prison would be somewhat stressful.

I reckon, but could be wrong, the best way to avoid being stressed about going to prison, would be to not shoot someone four times through a door. Radical thought though obviously.

Exactly. I would suggest Reeva also had a bit of stress as her boyfriend was firing shots at her through a bathroom door, and even more stressful when the bullets hit and you know the end is coming for you. Now I know that would make me intensely stressful. So the boy gets a trip to the big chair to perform for the doc. http://www.bbc.com/news/world-africa-27405303

I'm not sure. The defence is desperately trying everything. The judge so far seems to have been a bit of a pushover with Pistorius but her reputation suggests that she's anything but:

http://guardianlv.com/2014/03/pistor...against-women/

It's looking more and more like one of those crime detective movies. The kind that has a twist at the end.

I will stick my neck waaaay out here and compare this to O.J.

Yes the major difference is Oscar does not deny shooting her.

The biggest difference is if Oscar is convicted there is zero chance of a riot.

That was a real possibility with a different O.J. verdict.

Guilty as hell but will get away with it as it's Africa.

He's probably guilty - but this is Africa, where rhythm and rhym are not always what they should be

Guilty, but nothing to do with it being Africa (unless OJ Simpson was sentenced there)

I'm sure he's guilty. And he'll probably get off lightly. But not if Gerrie has anything to do with it.

This truly has become a circus, but ol' Oscar can't be considered mentally off the wall which is good. I think he may get jail time simply because of world attention. If this had just been national media, the boy would have been moving on to his new squeeze by now.

Closing arguments trail ends today, but sentencing could take another number of weeks apparently.

He'll also need to be found guilty before any sentencing too :)
