Petty Worries.

I was watching tv last night, flicking between the monster cyclone coverage and the bloody, camel trampling conflict in Egypt. And I said to myself, I am so tired of buying bananas and watching them go soft before they get eaten. I say forget about the big stuff and let's focus on the little things. As the cyclone swirls, the fighters fight, the volcanoes bubble, the bombs blast and the blizzards bite... what's insignificantly irritating in your world right now?

The fact that everyone else is in school, and I'm not! Very frustrating sitting 'phone-watching' when, with ten years teaching experience under my belt, I should be in MY classroom, with MY kids, but alas, I am not! My patience is wearing thin  ...ARGHHHHHH

Sitting sweating at the computer- it is too hot to go outside and do all the stuff I need to get done.

F*&king lawnmower died...... it lasted barely 3 years - or by another measurement approx 36 uses. (My estimate is an average mowing frequency of once a month) - Thats about $10 an hour excluding fuel costs!

Should I:
- Fork out $350 (I dont have) for a new one?
- Buy a dodgy second hand one for $150ish... (still more than I can afford)
- Pay the guy $50 a month to mow each month - never have the grief of mowing or the hassle of buying a piece of crap that I resent and makes me miserable.
- Let the bastard grass grow to 3ft long and pay for treatments for the dogs bad skin reactions (some kind of grass/pollen eczema allergy that gets triggered when grass gets too long).. and just accept that snakes arent really anywhere near as bad as people make out.....

Perhaps I shoudl bite the bullet, remortgage and pay somone to cover the whole lot in astroturf?.. Decks sound nice - but I bet if I covered the whole lawn with deck it'd be a rotten skanky mess in less than a year, cost a fortune to repair and the bastard weeds would still probably grow through it....

I can solve that one for you mate - get yourself a "Banana Bag" from Lakeland (which delivers internationally). It's like a sleeping bag you put your bananas in, shove it in the fridge, and they last up to two weeks. It worked in Singapore (where bananas spoil even quicker than here)so should work here.

Current worries at the moment are health and finance. No petty ones I'm afraid.

Gee...I have abused mine for 6 years - used it as a slasher and on over half an acre - weekly in summer and spring. Never changed the oil....but it is a 4 stroke and I reckon I use it long enough to get the oil around the pistons...it was about $500 if not more.

brother in law had his repaired for approx $100, might be a good option.

Letting the grass grow is also "cost effective".
