Pet hates on BE!
I really hate when I take the time to answer someone's thread or send a pm with something personal & they can't be arsed to even say thanks!
What's your gripe? |
Re: Pet hates on BE!
I possibly do this Sallyclaire. I always forget to answer the threads I post. I read them but sometimes forget to answer...sorry! and thank you!

Which you usually read and 3 hours later you are still sitting at your PC and don't have the answer to the question you first had in mind.....if you can remember what it was!

Re: Pet hates on BE!
I hate that I don't get nearly enough karma. I'm a nice person, dammit and I deserve to be justly rewarded!
|
Re: Pet hates on BE!
People who say Perth is boring and live elsewhere in OZ but then spend 24/7 on BE!

What's your gripe? 2. people who seem to forget that once they were newbies too 3. people who deliberately take threads off topic & into pointless dialogues with their pals (why didn't you accept my FB invite yet etc) which block original poster (often newbie / relative newbie) out 4. never-ending threads about whether UK is better than Oz or vice versa in which people seem to get so worked up & twisted, it's frightening  Should add, I've never been newbie in question related to above points, is merely observation. I like BE a lot, sometimes it pisses me off but then it's just time to log off (and / or learn which posters not worth responding to) - overall I have got a lot out of it over time, like practical & interesting bits and pieces that have learned about by accident, also some nice lively discussion on occasion. Conclusion : not nearly enough to gripe about to make me go away :) |

Re: Pet hates on BE!
I really don't like the way that a lot of threads, sometimes really interesting ones, get killed off when a few clicky mates start their banter and innuendo. Its always the same people and its wearing a bit thin now. Its getting so predictable that I follow a thread, then when a particular person starts to post, I stop following because I know thats the end of whatever the OP wanted to talk about.
Don't ask me who though, it would be cruel to post the names. But if they are reading this they should know who they are and perhaps it will ring a bell with them :o |

Excessive lol-ing lol! Like at the end of every sentence lol! Even if there was nothing funny lol! [/:curse:] |
Re: Pet hates on BE!
I hate it when people complain about positive comments in a negative thread but the same people post negative comments in positive thread (or try to derail the thread by talking about beer).
Nothing wrong with posting positive comments or negative comments but one rule for them and another rule for us is just hypocrisy. |

Agree with that one completely. My son's friend even says "lol" now in verbal conversation at the end of sentences. The urge to reach out and give him a slap is becoming too much to resist.

Re: Pet hates on BE!
I hate it when one does a bit of self-depreciating humour (in the traditional British way) and then someone comes along and uses it as a tool to bludgeon you with (the new British way?) :frown:
The joke is really only funny the first time. |

Re: Pet hates on BE!
I hate it when you're having an argument/debate/discussion with someone and they suddenly realise that they've got it wrong or have grabbed the wrong end of the stick and then just stop posting. No parting comment/agreement/settlement; just blank. Are they so petulant in real life?

A pet hate of mine is the people making an entire posting career being negative mentioning the same old stuff but never ever giving any detail. Then it turns out that they just miss Tesco and that they are rather dull after all. Respect, diversity, and all the rest of it, but I really, really, cannot take these people seriously - the sort of people whose last known challenge was passing their driving test. I wonder where they come from sometimes. I'd like to play the anthropologist and live with them for a week, (grow a beard), and observe their family. Could be a fascinating insight into a whole unknown culture.:p Another is people saying they miss culture and standards when you only have to look at their posts to know they are one of the people responsible for diluting the gene pool, expanding the peasantry and should be banned from producing offspring. |

Re: Pet hates on BE!
OK guys, lets not get personal about this. Keep the discussion general and don't name names.
