Is Perth that expensive?

Yes, it's WELL exy!
I can't believe it sometimes. For example yesterday I walked past Bayswater Car hire. When I first came here 9 years ago it was $12 a day, today it's $28.
I never go to pubs because 1. it's $10 a pint plus and 2. the pubs around me a full of shaven headed pommies in football shirts looking to fight. In fact I told my mrs. she couldn't go to the Sovereign the other night which was just as well as I think there was a stabbing.
One of my neighbours has build a traditional British pub on the side of his house, that's where we always go, every Friday. It's great.
Having said that business owners do need to retain staff from going to the mines and their biggest cost will be ASTRONOMICAL rents. So it's really the property bubble that is fuelling it all IMO.
