Perth - boring or what
#91
Hi,
I was wondering are there many people out there that find Perth to be the most boring place on earth? Before you starting giving out to me, I do realise that it has its good points - beaches, climate etc... But in terms of excitement - things to do in a social scene I cannot believe how utterly boring the place is - for a city of roughly 1.5 million people. Even the mecca that is Subiaco is very boring during the week - it is only on Friday and Saturday night it comes to life at all. As for Sunday night the whole place just shuts down - try getting a taxi in Subiaco at 11PM on a Sunday night - its like a ghost town. Walk through the city centre on a Saturday night about 10PM - empty again. I know Northbridge is a mile away.
How many times have I passed by quiet trendy looking pubs that are either not even open - or are open but empty - this could be on a Saturday afternoon even. If you mentioned this to a west australian they look at you as if you have two heads on you. BTW - I am tired of people going on about the relaxed lifestyle of Perth - in my opinion there is a big difference between relaxed and boring.
Shopping also leaves a lot to be desired here too by the way. Before you say why don't you leave - I am tied to a relocation contract that I cannot afford to break.
Cheers

Guys come on! Xabia is entitled to their opinion.
I wouldn't dream of living in Perth cos I know it wouldn't be for me but I only know that from reading this forum. If you are the type of person who likes a good nightlife then Perth may well be your idea of hell. If you love beautiful scenery and beaches than Perth may well be your paradise.
Vive la differance!

Keep working on that move to Sydney though, its well worth it. I had to leave after 3 months though as I developed Liver pain!! I always seem to find someone where to go oon any night, particularly classy 24 hour drinking establishements I seem to remember.. Ahh Strawberry fields.. and incredibly dodgy strip bars but at least girls got in Free, and there was a bar open. It all a matter of how low your prepared to go. Incidently there used to be a long hour drinking place in Freo called Le Bog (classy!!!!!) it was the biggest dive but it served til silly hours. Think its closed now though.
Try Cott on a sunday, for the sunday session at least it goes on past 10pm. Although beware if your over 21 there is every chance you have to sit with the grandads.
I love Perth and recommend it but its definatly the Marmite City.
Keep trying until you can relocate and enjoy the low traffic volumes until then.

I find it quite sad that people rate a place on the opening times of pubs or the number of them in close proximity AND how they depend on them for their entire social life. How boring!

Blimey - dragging up a year old thread on your first post - that's fantastic
TROLL ALERT!!!!!!
IF you are bored - you are the one with the problem - find something to do!
I can always find something to amuse me, in fact I don't have half the time I need to do stuff I want to do.
Skydiving, swimming, surfing, kite surfing, walking, reading, 4 wd driving, fishing, wildlife watching, gym stuff, cinema, eating out, coffee with friends, ten pin bowling, knitting, candlemaking, join a library, photograohy - my list is endless!
YOUR life is what YOU make it - no one or no place is responsible for that. You are given the tools - you get out of life what you put in.
I can think of lots more cliches
Get off your ass and do something!!!

Yeh but I`d want to look nice for when they all walk past the open casket! I mean you don`t want to have folk saying "Sh*t that is one ugly corpse" at your funeral now do you - it`s like ugly babies - they just aren`t suppsed to happen.

Yep you could have so much fun couldn`t you - only trouble is you wouldn`t be able to see it cos you`d be dead!! Or get it rigged up so that you hear a knocking noise from inside the coffin.

Unless I have my funeral while I'm alive and when I do die, donate my body to medical science so the family wont have to go throught that again. That way i'll make sure the funeral is how I want it. One big laugh from start to finish.

Hmmm - that way you could choose all the music and get to listen to it with the church accoustics - what about Burning Love by Elvis?? or you could set it up so that when it all goes quiet a loud farting noise sounds from the back of the church.
