Guess what? I don't allow factors like bush fires to bother me. My day will come when my day will come. I could get knocked down by a car tomorrow. (Yadda yadda.)

Do you know if the houses in Roley can be insured against fire? I would hope they can.

In Perth for a bit. Haven't been for 8 years.
My answer to the raging SOR and NOR debate:
Wasn't that impressed with what I saw of the SOR. Loads of industry (our client site) and established, but bland housing. Reminded me of inner and middle established (older) Melbourne pockets at the lower end of the market.
The landscape reminded me of the Cypriot landscape, in keeping with the Med climate. Trees, grass and a lot of sand visible in places. Melbourne was a bit like this in previous summers - without the sand. I found myself wanting to see the new estates - to break it up. Never thought I would say that.
It was warm, with humidity, and remained warm at night in a way that Melbourne is only a few nights a year. (On the way back in Melbourne, it felt cold!) Bear in mind that this has been a hot summer and that recent, consecutive nightly temps have set new records. I found myself yearning for the days at home in Melbourne when there might even be a bit of a mist, and the views and rolling hills. On the other hand, I wanted to go to Kalumunda to see how it compared.
CBD - very quiet, very small.
Traffic. Standard of driving. Didn't see a single incident, a single cuttingup, "F**K off we're full" sticker or aggressive driver. Smooth.
Lots of hot chicks at the airport. You can see the pace of life evident. 'Hello....'

You've seen some of the cheap southern coastal suburbs, and I admit they're not up to much. But SOR still has some gems. Forget about Rockingham, Kinwana and Wellard; try Mandurah, Roleystone and Serpentine.
Closer to the city: Fremantle, Applecross and Mount Pleasant.

to the op.
depends on the choice of work and price
wellard is quite far from the city, a good 37km but nearby a train station.
if you are buying, check out "village at wellard". plots about 430 to 560sqms.
