Chr*st on a bike! I am NOT a big meat eater but the OH and I enjoy a nice bacon buttie when we're feeling a bit 'porky' aka when we're eating naughtily. WTF is going on with the bacon in this country!? The first lot we bought we looked at it upon opening and wondered 'is this stuff cooked?!'
a mate of mine's hubby who arrived at a similar time to us actually licked the bacon to see if it was cooked, much to his disgust, it wasn't! Now I'm no expert on meat but I do know my bacon, so can someone enlighten me, are the pigs just weird over here, or have the butchers not got a clue lol

The problem, Jen, is that the only place in the world where the bacon is as good as the bacon in Ireland, is Ireland. I have English friends who have it sent over from Ireland, since all they get is English and Danish bacon.
Ding Dong Denny!
Sorry, couldn't help adding that.

There is sensational bacon, organic even, here but it isn't found in supermarkets. Better than just about anything you will find in the U.K. Just takes a little effort to find it.

I've never even noticed....with bacon I find I just have to cook it for long enough.

I used to love gammon- pickled pork is the closest you can get to it, but still not right and bloody expensive too. I just don't eat bacon or sausages here for that matter. And chicken is pricey so I don't get that often. I'm a demi-veggie here (don't eat beef either and lamb is way too fatty.)
