In QLD can I take the old pink UK licence in to get an OZ licence without the rigmorol of sitting tests etc. ? Have not lived in UK for a while so missed the roll out of the new credit card style and cannot do it online as you have to be resident in UK to do so according to DVLC website.

I have a SAfrican one and a UK one so going for a straight flush with an OZ one lol.Never had to hand in my UK one when I got my SA one 18 years ago so maybe it is a newer ruling.DVLA know that I live abroad, well they still think I am in S.Africa anyhow. As far as the age of expiry goes,it is 70 on mine it's so old the 0 looks like a 6.

Ive never had a photo ID Licence so it's not a renewal,it would be from scratch.

That's exactly the situation I was (am) in. I did however have an active NI number though I don't see why yours would be deactivated. I recently submitted my UK tax return online using Self Assessment and that asks for your NI number too. I no longer had a UK address and my pink licence's address was my parents' previous address. My application listed my parents' current address and I still got it (took nearly two months mind you).

But having lived in S.A. for a number of years, she would have had to exchange her UK licence for a S.A. one.

"You will hand over your foreign drivers licence or Driving permit when you receive your South African licence."
Which is the same in the UK. I exchanged my S.A. licence for a UK one and didn't get my S.A. one back. They sent it back to S.A.

). When I returned to the UK SA was still out of favour with the rest of the world so I had to undergo the full test routine to get my GB licence.
And the buggers failed me the first time!
