Default Norman Swan: Politicians Cause Pandemics

Did anyone see Swan's interview on ABC Breakfast this morning?

He basically said it was politicians who cause pandemics, Gladys didn't follow the science but went for the politics and as a result NSW's outbreak was far worse than necessary.

The NSW Government ignored the health advice of Dr Kerry Chant in lockdown, and created the two Sydneys. You have to wonder what other medical advice was ignored by the NSW government or altered to suit its agenda:

Kerry Chant urged ‘consistent’ lockdown restrictions across all of Sydney, email reveals

The NSW government imposed harsh lockdown restrictions on the poorest areas of Sydney’s west and south-west despite Chief Health Officer Dr Kerry Chant advising that the rules should be implemented consistently across Greater Sydney.

Emails sent between health officials and Health Minister Brad Hazzard in mid-August have revealed Dr Chant recommended that “consistent measures” be implemented across all of Sydney.

Despite the health advice, the extended lockdown left 12 local government areas under restrictions that were far tougher than other parts of Sydney, outraging community leaders who declared the handling of the Delta outbreak had left the city divided
This policy of ignoring the science obviously had Dom Perrottet's full support, the first thing he did was drop Chant from press conferences. https://www.smh.com.au/politics/nsw/...21-p59aq4.html .
No wonder Perrottet left her out of the presser when he announced his new road map. Now we know why, she's wouldn't endorse it.

Trust a politician to turn a pandemic into anything but a health issue. Thank goodness QLD and some of the other states have politicians that have the guts and the intelligence to be a 'goddamn bloody adult' and follow the science.

CHO's provide advice. Not run a state. That's why Queensland is in so much trouble. Norman Swann loves the sound of his own voice. Thank goodness the ABC is banned in our house

And considering that QLD has had only 2,115 cases and 7 deaths I'd say they've done a heck of a good job. It been made even harder by the Federal government now being in election mode and constantly briefing against them and issuing misinformation. The PCR tests being an excellent example.
