a. 10^-25 chance the world is destroyed.
b. 10^-23 chance we find god. still a long shot but better than a.
what should be more worrying is the cost is north of $10bln yet they tell is about a 'hunch'? and they shut down hubble cuz it's too expensive? c'mon who's financing this hunch?

There's enough wire in the magnets to go to the sun and back five times....
So now we know who all those Sydney wire robbers sold that copper to <g>.

When the particles collide, they will produce the Higgs boson..
If we do indeed get a Higgs boson, then we will finally understand the Grand Unified Theory. Sadly, as a byproduct, a minature black hole will be created which will immediately plunge to the centre of the Earth (where gravity will propel it at terrifying speeds), whereupon it will start to absorb mass and ultimately consume the planet.
One positive point to realise is that there is an 'event horizon' round every black hole, where time effectively stops. So although we will be pulled into the black hole, time will effective freeze for us, so we will spend eternity being destroyed.

*You* will be stretched to infinite length - relatively - so will not be particularly interested in the observer's view of your demise <g>.
I blame Stephen Hawking for it all.................

We've got to go to Brissie on Sunday. Does this mean we'll be stuck there forever?
