Cheaper here.
Electricity
Gas
Water
Rent
Hotels
Most food
Secondhand cars, new are pretty close
Car running costs, obviously depending on what car, like anywhere
Drivers license
Passports
Many white goods and electronics
Lots of other stuff.
All this in either thread is largely unimportant as no amount of money or 'stuff' will bring you true happiness and that is what we are finding so wherever you are, whatever you earn if you are truly happy then you are rich.

Electricity - Not
Gas - incorrect
Water - nice try
Rent - can be but mostly not
Hotels - no
Most food - 50/50 IMHO
Secondhand cars, new are pretty close - bingo
Car running costs, obviously depending on what car, like anywhere - I disagree
Drivers license - who cares
Passports - who cares
Many white goods and electronics - agree
Lots of other stuff. - sure there is

I'm thinking with my head, you are thinking with your heart. Those items I rebutted are not cheaper in the UK. Either on exchange rate or as a proportion of salary. Especially the utility bills. If I could be arsed I'd go up into the attic and pull out my old UK ones and post. In fact our utilities are approx the same figure in £££ as they are in $$$$. But thanks for calling me an idiot - shall we have a poll?

So you base it on old utilities bills ?
We paid 24c per KWH in Brisbane, we now pay 10.2p per KWH. Its just the facts as we are actually here.
