Re: My first Winter ....
I have an idea to feel happier or more cheerful:
I am changing the wallpaper of my computer ... I am putting a picture of a sunny summer to cheer me up ... It might work ;) http://0.tqn.com/d/architecture/1/0/...MLS_sunset.jpg |
Re: My first Winter ....
4°C in Geelong this morning probably 8 or 9........feels colder over here as many have mentioned due to the lack of proper insulation. If your up Sydney way or further North it will soon warm up meanwhile in Victoria we have at least 8 weeks of cold weather then some crazy spring weather will arrive. I hate winter but love Victoria its a trade off!

Re: My first Winter ....
The other night in west Victoria...0.6 degrees...clear sky, stars shining, no sign of fog or mist. HUMIDITY 95% - that is partly what makes it feel so cold.
Vic generally has a dry air climate making 30 degrees more than bearable. English winters when very cold have dryish air (except when it's raining of course:() |
Re: My first Winter ....
I've just come back from a month in the UK where the weather for the most part was good (now there's a first) and a few days in Singapore and now I'm absolutely freezing!
Problem is in Oz it's not the temps as compared to a UK winter it's positively baking but the houses are not well insulated and the heating is dreadful - warm air that last five minutes after you've turned it off and gas that is expensive! As the OP said, quite often it's warmer out than in. Before anyone says anything, we are still renting at the moment so can't do much about it other than shut ourselves in one room to keep warm. Oh and get yourself an electric blanket, couldn't survive without one here! |

Re: My first Winter ....
It got cold up here last week. I had to wear long sleeve shirts for a few days !!
Back to short sleeves again now though  |
Re: My first Winter ....
We had minus 11 last Wednesday morning, minus 9 the day before and minus 7 on the Monday. Minus 6 on Sunday and Monday this week. Luckily the wood fire keeps my house nice and warm. Armidale New South Wales.
