Default Murphy's travel plans

Just received a quote for taking our 9 year old golden retriever to the UK with us. He's 47kg so we were expecting a whopping price, but were pleasantly surprised. This is from the Pet Travel Specialists in Perth - it's run by an Oz govt. accredited vet so it's really a one stop shop. If anyone has had any dealings with this company, it would be great to hear from you

I have attached a quote of $4130.00 for Murphy’s veterinary preparation and travel to Liverpool. The quote includes the required Rabies vaccination and parasite treatment, veterinary examination, a travel crate with bedding, transfer to Perth airport from the Pet Travel Clinic, Australian government fees, the flights to Manchester with Emirates, all clearances on arrival and delivery to your home in Liverpool. The quoted cost also includes a rest stop in Dubai which all pets travelling with Emirates are required to have.

Hello

Thanks for posting this. I'm also in the process of planning a move from Perth to the UK, and we'll be taking our two cats. We received a quote from Pet Travel Specialists for $3200. It seems reasonable compared to other companies. We also appreciated the thoroughness of the quote compared to other companies (e.g. providing different estimates based on different airlines).

I'm not sure when you're moving, but would love to hear how you go with Pet Travel Specialists. I'm pretty nervous about putting my fur-babies on a plane

Hi Esme. Fully understand your nervousness, I'm the same.

My husband flies over in a few days, then Murphy, then me. I've been very impressed with Pet Travel Specialists so far, for these reasons:

Angus, the vet who runs the service, is lovely - very friendly and professional. Because he's a govt. accredited vet, he's taking care of everything including the rabies injection and all the paperwork. He's also bang up to date with all the customs regulations. With everything else we have had to do for the move, this has been fantastic.

He really listened to me when I told him about Murphy's car phobia, and came up with solutions to help. Instead of us having to drive Murphy to Willeton (we're north of the river), he came to our house to give him his rabies shot and he also bought the crate so that Murphy can get used to having it around.

He's also coming to our house the day before Murphy travels, to give him his pre-flight check and to worm him, and has arranged for Murphy to be picked up on the morning of the flight rather than us having to drive him to the vet clinic to be boarded overnight. He did all of the above at no extra charge, even though we offered to pay.

So - so far I'm very impressed. I'll post an update when Murphy arrives in the UK. Best of luck with your plans and don't hesitate to post any questions you have, or you're welcome to send me a private message
