Re: Mums in Sydney...
I thought every weekend had a mothers day these days judging by the 'pink events' that take place just about every other weekend for mothers and daughters?
And my wife actually agrees with this..... doesn't seem any different to any other Sunday, just blends in with the rest.

Well it isn't different for me today either....got up at 6 had a bath, did the ironing, DD got up and gave me a card at 9.30 then went to her end of the house without exchanging more than a sentence, (OH is watching a film),weeded the nature strip and am bored and alone. Oh yes, I tore up a load of cardboard boxes to vent. In a minute I'm going to help OH cover the pool for winter. Don't know what I'll do this afternoon.

Like I say though, I'm sure you're not.

Doesn't hurt to counter balance things these days, especially when I see my son in a female dominated environment.
Anyhoo, I am off to sort the roast dinner out I am cooking for the better half.

Come and be with my family - apart from the card, it has been more like a normal day- except I have done more things on my own. Spent the afternoon edging paths, pulling weeds, filling in bandicoot and rabbit holes, watering, measuring the pool for a new fence, and pruning. Oh, I did get a cup of tea made for me, and OH is cooking a roast, but he normally does that at the weekend anyway. No one has bothered to ask if I wanted to do anything.

Yet another "Day" that is now overly commercialised. I get sick of seeing the adverts and guides about what to buy your mother in the newspapers. Mother's Day is about breakfast in bed, crap home made cards and flowers not hi tech gadgets and accessories that most kids (and by kids I mean fathers!) cannot afford.

One of my most treasured possessions is a bookmark made by my 4 year old son! I brought it out and embarrassed him with it in front of his girlfriend, he's 24 now

I love getting homemade cards from my kids (and a box of choccies ) Anything more is overkill.

I also had three willing houseslaves for the day, who cooked breakfast, lunch and dinner, and who filled both my teacup and my wineglass on demand.
It really SHOULD be Mother's Day every Sunday
