Mowing the lawn on a Sunday!
#1
It's 6:40 am today (Sunday) and someone is mowing their lawn!
I was thinking it's Deadvim but he lives far away from me.

I did mine at the unusually early hour of 8:30am yesterday and that was only because we had a kids party to prepare for.

I usually put it off until the arvo ...
I'm guessing the forecasts of rain mean people are getting in early.

Lawnmowing at that hour? Ouch- at least our neighbours wait till daylight, and the kookaburras have already woken us up first!

It's going well, I had to replace the blades yesterday ($10) but that's to be expected considering I have used it to mow the big paddocks and a not insubstantial bit of "nature strip" (corner block) in the absence of a working ride-on.
Ride-on and generator ... 2 things on the wish list right now ...

Well, it has just started to rain quite heavily now.

I waited until 10am last Sunday before I started using my angle grinder.

Bugger that....we have half an acre of lawn to deal with.....we now have a gardener who cuts it once a fortnight or three weeks
Worth every penny
Used to take me hours.

It's normal to wake to the dulcit tones of ride-on mowers & chainsaws any time after 6am around these parts. Especially after the recent storms.
I just bought a nice shiny new John Deere. It's cut my mowing time from 4 hrs to just under 2. I cut the vacant block to the side of us as well, just the first few metres from the road to keep it looking nice. This one has decent lights on the front so I tend to cut in the evening when it's cooler.
If your keen to use a ride on you can come & mow mine any time you want lol keys in the mower.

As it hasn't rained here since October.........haven't heard a lawn mower in months, which is bliss.
When it does rain however, they will all start up at once. That is a REALLY lovely sound.

Yep until four weeks ago we were desperate for water. Our tanks were down to the last couple of rungs & there was a three week wait for delivery. Grass was brown & dead & the garden looked decimated. 600mm of rain & two floods later it's an oasis of green with the odd gum tree laid on the ground lol. All good for firewood for next year.

I've repaired it more often than I can remember and have finally conceded defeat ... Might be worth a few bob for scrap though ... Rover Rancher, about as reliable as the other Rovers I have driven.
