Moving to PERTH!

You will see the odd spider in the garden and things - some big ones such as huntsmen, but they are harmless. Same with orb spiders which are really pretty!
Redbacks and things are not that common in the city. My wife saw her first the other day and we have been here 2.5 years and are fairly rural.
Out in the bush is another matter. We have a plague of redbacks here at work at the moment after we had a big flood last week - i work in the desert. Spent half an hour last night with a can of spray killing them around my room.

I can't even be bothered to kill them anymore...it's tedious...

, and not to kill it, because it was good at eating other insects
. I was too scared to get anything out of the pantry after that and helped out with other chores instead of cooking.

I am not a big fan of crawly things and have been known to try to climn up a living room wall when just watching a film aragnaphobia think it was called. A friend thought it would help me get over my fear (yeah right) I managed to scale (almost) a painted wall

On a trip to Brisbane a long time ago, I stayed with an Aussie friend who lived near some bush, Tarragindi I think it was. She warned me not to be scared if I saw the huntsman in the pantry
, and not to kill it, because it was good at eating other insects
. I was too scared to get anything out of the pantry after that and helped out with other chores instead of cooking.

I thought it was safe. I can cope with scary male patients (female ones are even scarier
) ones that tower over me and look like gorillas hehehe I can drop them quicker than they can run and dart them at close quarters but spiders crawly things hmmmn nope cant cope unless DD there and I have to

.You're much more likely to see a redback than the nasty huntsmans, but redbacks are slow-moving, so the brave person in the household who kills them can easily catch them. They are also usually outside. I've only seen a huntsman twice inside the house in 20 years, so I'm hoping they've got the message that they're not allowed inside the house
. There are other little things to do to survive arachnophobia, such as never leaving your car windows open
, when your car's parked overnight.

Ive one (somewhat silly!) question....everyone i speak to says "oh you never see spiders, only in the bush/in older houses etc etc" - but honestly, how many big spiders/redbacks do you ACTUALLY see?
(im undergoing hypnotherapy for my irrational fear of them, i know - how tragic!) xxxxxx

Not seen any since we moved into a newer house. Had a couple living in the car last year though..
Now snakes, that's another matter
