hello all xpats,
please could you give me your thoughts on exchanging pound to dollar,waiting to come over when property gets sorted.just looking at rate and unsure if now is the right time.would only be exchanging small amount to start with,so please give me some ideas. thakyou.

we've got more chance of predicting the weather.
just change it when you feel it's right.
If you loose some because the rate has gone down - tough, deal with it. If you gain more, then good for you.
Set yourself a minimum base - say for example 2.2. thats the minimum you want to exchange at - any more than that is a bonus.
the only thing you can do is be prepared and budget for the worst, that way you know your limit.

If Australian Interest rates drop and the UK rates stay the same or increase, then Yes.
However, David Blanchflower, a member of the Bank of England’s Monetary Policy Committee, has said that interest rates need to fall quickly if the UK is to see any hopes of recovery.
If both countries rates drop by the same %, then there may be no real change to the FX rate, between us.

I was looking to exchange @ $2.20-2.25 so getting anymore than that is a bonus. If only we had crystal balls
