Aha, still have the box in my trembling hands, ingredients are:

Salt
Wheat Flour
Maize Starch
Flavour Enhancers 621 627
Colour 150c
Yeast Extract
Vegetable Oil
Flavourings (including Beef Flavour)
Autolysed Yeast Extract
Sugar
Lactic Acid
Onion Powder
Mineral Salt 508

Now you'd think that Beef Flavour would give the game away but it then goes on to say:

Contains wheat, gluten, suitable for vegetarians.

Also the foil from each cube can be recycled

I'm quite used to beef flavour - walkers beef and onion crisps were always vegetarian  - just never oxo. Where are you buying those, as it would be helpful when I have family here :)

Just Coles / BILO

Actually if Aldi ever get them in as a special item when they do a UK promotion (Lyles Golden Syrup, etc,) I wouldn't mind betting they'll import directly and hopefully get the pukka version ... that would be nice.

Sorry to tease, I realise you don't have Aldi in Adelaide yet... coming soon I hope.

LOL - we've only been here a few months, and wouldn't have thought to check oxo for being meat free. Bought a rather expensive vegetable stock as I do like a cooked dinner sometimes, and always handy in recipes.

Thanks for the info :)

Down to personal taste buds though! I don't like the baked Walkers, has to. E the originals, and there are times when I would kill for a lacket of their S & V! Same with Twiglets!! :demon:

Haven't found Prawn Cocktail flavour here in 10 years outside of the occasional pack in a British shop. Aus just doesn't do them :(

Try http://www.treatsfromhome.com.au/. - i've used them a lot :)

Sounds revolting- and having gluten, I can't use it anyway. I use a good quality vegetable stock (liquid) or make my own gravy from the meat juices when we have a roast.

:( I may distribute them to various friends around the country before I leave so I have a stash in each major city. haha!

(Also, too much time in the 5 word story - I just spent far too long thinking about how to condense that into 5 words before realising I didn't have to!!!) :o
