Lots of English up here in Joondalup. Abit boring though. Depends what you want in life. If you like beaches and the surf then you will love it. The areas up here are all the same to me. Big suburbs, loads of houses close together, but not enough things to do.

It's just so hard to know what to do for the best.We can't afford a house in freo it self but a few of the places close are a little cheaper.
Have you found it hard to meet people?I sometimes think i must have two heads lol
I enjoy a socail life and time out with the Baby but again stuck as no babysitter.Fingers crossed and things will turn round in are favour. Not ready to throw it in yet but understand why people go home. It's just alot harder than i thought it was going to be...Life lol

Hi Clare

I am living in Freo, no kids though. I'm 35 and not working yet.
Would be happy to meet for a coffee/lunch.
Only problem is I have no transport, the OH has just started work and is using the car, so can only meet in Freo at the moment:o

We've been here almost 3 months. I'm a nurse but have been having a little break since we got here; have only just started applying for jobs. My OH is in IT in Perth, what's your hubby business?
Do you know Freo much?

I have been told alot of British live there, Is that true?We are looking to buy at the moment and any info would be great on places to buy.
thanks

A visit up to Mindarie is like going to the costa brava theres that many Brits up there.. Obviously we're not that spartan down in Freo either, but the Italians, Greeks, Saffas and Croatians give us a run for the money.

Its only my opinion (cue abuse-ometer to rev up) but you buy a lifestyle up in the North suburbs, flash houses close to the beach. Further south you get less house for your money, but it seems more real and established. Its not all new build, new estates.

I am VERY lucky and I know that, but living in Freo is brilliant for us, we have one car, walk to our local ammenities and the beach, as well as being able to pop out for coffee at 7pm with the little one in the pram (some times he goes to sleep and we have a beer as well!!) I honestly think if we had to load him into the car and risk him having a tantrum we wouldnt be bothered.. Its no big deal being able to do it or not, but when its easy, you do and therefore getting around and about, seeing and meeting people and escaping the 4 walls is just part of life.

Hope to catch up with you when we get back to Perth, Ive got a mate moving to Freo from the UK in August, so can pass on your details if you want.. She has a couple of kids, knows a few people but not many.

Good luck and rememeber SOUTH! Its closer to Margaret River and all that wine after all..

Cheers
Birdey

Oh sorry forgot.. Play Group. Have you tried the one at "The meeting Place" in South Freo? It used to be run by an crazy English lass called Sally, if you ring and let her know your coming she is very welcoming and at least you know someone is looking out for you. Its on monday mornings at 11am.

Not sure how far out of Freo you are, BUT FOR THOSE THAT ARE NEAR. (Sorry NB people)
but a coffee at the park on the Esplanade is a good way to hook up with other parents, as well as Zepher on the river and Point Walter.

There is tumble tots type thing at Melville Leisure centre, and I know Freo pool runs kids swimming lessons every day so there are hundreds of different classes. Rememember there is a Creche here as well, so getting into a yoga class or something may give you some contacts.

We went to OCeanic waterbabies for swimming lessons, but I think you have to be under 12 months to start with them (could be wrong)

If you havent already get a copy of Kids Perth which at least offers some places to go.

Hope it helps

What about next week? I may have an interview one of the days, will find out on Wednesday and let you know.
We could either meet at a cafe at the park on the Esplanade or at the cafe at the park on South Beach, which would you prefer?

Hi, Let me know when your free and we will sort something out. The cafe at the park on the Esplanade would be better for me so Tilly can have a kick about.
Look forward to hearing from you
Take Care
