Thanks  After needing to really meet some new people in Perth I got hold of the local Free paper, went through the "whats on" section and basically phoned anything that I thought may be slightly interesting. Dragon Boating (no experience) Yoga, Swimming lessons for the little one. ZONTA - (professional womans asc.) I really do know what your on about, as Im in NZ at the moment (5 months) doing the same AGAIN (back to Perth in Jan though.. hooray) I have become completely shameless at inviting myself to things, in the park I invite people for coffee (easy with kids) in the supermarket I start up conversations with anyone who looks less likely ot be an axe murderer than me, I remember to ask questions about those people and places that are good to go to around and about. I have learnt not to complain too much about the place in which I find myself, only to mention that its tough being the new girl again. Ive done a short course at the local Tafe where I met my first drinking buddy and Im volunteering with a refugee organisation, so I meet people and have things to talk about.. I still dont know that many people here, but Ive discovered that 1 or 2 friends leads to 3 or 4 eventually. This may sound like Im mrs social butterfly, far from it, I still sometimes go to the playgroup and dont speak to another person. But you do have to get your self out there and that canbe tough. AS my mates always say big smile, stand tall, tits out and tell yourself your interesting and fun.. why wouldnt people want to be your friend? Good Luck Maybe catch you in Jan? birdey:thumbsup: |

Re: Living in Perth
Hi, i have a 27 months old daughter so unable to work. I have tried Mother and Toddler groups but no room for us this term!!We did join one but nobody spoke to us at all which was horrid.
We did start Swimming lessons but that was really hard as they children here are so far ahead and T by daughter was unable to do half of the class which was a real shame. I am going to have to be brave and just keep pushing myself on people in a nice way. I would love to have Coffee and week end drinks. We have had lot's of visitors over the past 6 months so it's now time we, My Hubby and I put our selfs out there and start out new life. |

how long have you been here? it's not that far. we drove out that way a few weeks ago.

Abit boring though. Depends what you want in life. If you like beaches and the surf then you will love it. The areas up here are all the same to me. Big suburbs, loads of houses close together, but not enough things to do. |
