Cracking atmosphere as hoped for at the sydney game, really enjoyable.

The game itself wasn't that great but no matter. Kresinger is a proper donkey, I don't see what he brings. Bridge is actually decent in his approach play but has no left foot at all which let him down. Mooy and Polensz were both class I thought.

Definitely a dive by Del Piero for the pen too :nod:

Pretty much agree with all of that, Del Piero is experienced enough to be able to win a penalty like that though, he will probably win a few like that against some of the inexperienced defenders in this comp. Other than the pen and a few good balls around the box his general play wasn't all that great.

Del dive a lot Piero might as well have been reffing the game as well. Always in the refs face after every whistle and was immune to being booked.

I don't think anyone can honestly suggest it wasn't a penalty. Sure he went down easily, but any defender worth his salt wouldn't have just stuck their leg out like he did. It was naive and foolish.

If he'd had legitamately tripped it would have been a penalty but he went looking for it and dived over the leg. It was inexperienced defending though with the leg. Seen then given and seen them not given.

At the other end Dino Kresinger is no where near good enough and should never have been signed. An average of 1 goal every 4 or so games throughout his career in a league that makes the Welsh league look good isn't what we needed. And to have not been dropped. I'm sure there's something more to his signing.

Martin, where were you sitting in Parra Stadium on Saturday night? I was in the West upper and was surrounded by annoying Sydney fans :frown:

For the next derby at Parra I would suggest giving Sydney a bigger block allocation. Perhaps give them all behind the goal plus half of one of the main stands, upper and lower and keep them within this area. All for friendly banter but this was too far and didn't work.

I was the noisy pommie bloke in the middle of the upper tier of the east. Never got so heated at an event in oz before. There were a few esfc in ours too but most were del divo piero fans not real fans. I was say next to an Italian and i was sure he was an esfc until the dive when he started shouting cheato stupide cheato. lol

LOL I forgot myself at one moment and thought I was back at a Middlesbrough game and gave it a full on vent :D Not used to having opposition fans around me, don't like it.

Great weekend of football last week, good to read everyones expirences. Had such a massive week with my House and landscaping and drainage issues this week.... That all I want to do this weekend is sit chill and watch every football game I can and just blank out all the stress.

:thumbup: I am well in to the Wanderers at the moment and for the first time in Australia I find myself disappointed there is no home game this weekend.

My prediction

Brisbane 2 - 0 WSW, any other result would be disapointing for Brisbane, not only are you expected to win, you are expected to win comfortably. That can bring pressures of it's own of course. But I would expect Brisbane to win this one without getting out of 2nd gear. I expect nothing from tomorrows game and I am looking to the home game against Heart to get off and running.

If the WSW defense decides to have an off day it could easily be 5 - 0.

Shame there won't be anyone in the oversized ground of Brisbane's to watch it ;)

I'm pretty sure we had the second highest average crowds last year (not including the finals) after the Victory.

I wish we would play in a smaller venue to make the atmosphere more interesting. Our supporter groups are already a bunch of nerds so atmosphere is at a premium.

Me too. Where are you watching it tomorrow night? The problem with Aussie "sports" bars is they refuse to put the sound on.

And I feel a goal or 2 coming on. Dino is out injured.

Your in Meadownbank hey? Not too far from me, I live between Epping and Carlingford and the closest pub to me is the Epping Hotel, however they generally never have football on in there unless you kick up a fuss and ask them. And they only have sound on the TV in the smoko area which generally stinks.

But then I can't get out as much as I used to due to having a young nipper at home these days. Have already taught him all about the Wanderers, will take him to his first game next year probably.
