I still  my kindle. I was experiencing the ultimate pleasure this afternoon, lying in the bath, enjoying a book and a glass of wine - and shopping at the same time

So you want to use a Oz credit card to buy a US Kindle for someone in the UK. And then the recipient would want to use a UK credit card to buy US books?

JTL

Typical bloke. How on earth did you read it like that????? :lol:It made perfect sense. Melibeam understood. :p

Flying south later, be interested to see how the battery life does on a 24 hours flight......

I see that colour E-Ink has now been demonstrated. It's a bit unsaturated at present but they aim to improve that quickly.

Yeah that looked brilliant - it'll be a year before they come to market though. That'll be the upgrade in 12-24mths kindle 4.0

Re: Kindle

OK, here's an update....

Its SOOOOOO good for flying with. Battery lasted 27 hours with hardly a dent in it, and I was reading almost the whole time. Would normally have needed three fat paperbacks which aren't easy to read while nibbling airline junk food etc.
Just tried downloading a couple of free books to it now I'm back on the dark side, no charge at all, its picked up the 3G here straightaway.

Wouldn't connect in Singapore though, it just searched for WiFi networks and refused to connect to the public free one. The 3G connection didn't come alive at all. I didn't try buying/downloading while there though.

Its still registered as a UK Kindle account, though anything I download is billed to my Aus address. When I actually want to buy something next I'll change it to being an Aus Kindle which apparently means I have to use Amazon.com not .co.uk

So far though its brilliant. Three hours stuck in Singapore while they fixed an oil leak, got through the rest of the new Jilly Cooper. That in hardback is sooo heavy that holding it for that long kills my wrists - kindle is just perfect for anyone with problems like arthritic wrists or who has trouble holding weighty items.
