Could you buy one of these "off the shelve" for use at home? ie for the front door? Just in case I dont want a bomber too blow me up or could there be other uses

You could just do as I do.
Order everyone who turns up at the front door to take their clothes off.
If they don't, then they can't come in.

They have these already, it is just at the moment they automatically blur the genital area for privacy reasons.

Obviously this has led to concerns that terrorists will staple a gun or a grenade to their balls, thus avoiding the scanner , so now they are proposing to 'unblur' the image.

All technology aside, could the security guards not just look for guys walking like they've got a gun stapled to their balls? They would really stand out. Ahemmmm
