I said that the UK had very nice weather at the moment and I'd seen on the TV that British wine makers had had a bumper crop of grapes. They were very chuffed with themselves at producing 2 million bottles of wine.

The Aussie drive then said, "cor, Does the daylight saving time really make that kind of a difference?"

I kid you not. Apparently by moving the clocks you gain an extra hour of sunlight on your grapes!

Nice to see you pop in A...even if it about grapes

Well something funny happened so I thought I'd share it. The weather in the UK for 2 weeks was great, sunny and up to 24 some days. Hence nice for growing grapes. I got off the plane here in Sydney to a miserable 14 degrees and drizzle. Got home and my car had changed colour to a muddy reddy brown. The Pool had a layer of mud stuck to the bottom that doesn't want to come off. All in all a nice welcome back. (in fact it's rained every day since I got off the plane on Sunday)

Seems like I missed the natural disaster of the dust storm.

I just need to work off all the nice Indian and Chineese food I've pigged out on whilst back. Complain about Birmingham if you like but the Indian food is the best in the world IMO.

You mean better than Bradford
I know what you mean though, curries, chinese food here is just hard to resist, especially when you're deprieved of it elsewhere. Not good for the six pack though is it

I discovered an excellent curry house on the A45 going into Brum. After that I pretty much camped out in it.

Keema nan's the size a nan should be and not the size of a shoe insole, a Dhansak curry that actually tasted like it should and not one taste fits all dishes. Oh and a Corma with a nice light tan colour and not some insepid version with the colour and texture the same as how it comes out in the morning!

I only have to go 3 months between curries now so it's not so bad.

Rainfall difference is dramatic though...
I'm tipping you're both correct. It was similar in Melbourne. I think on average a rainday every 3 days in the winter. Not so much now though!

Thanks. The one here is ok if you had never seen a good UK curry house.
