or do the flies in Perth seem worse this spring than previous years?
I have a couple of those bait traps in the back garden (the ones you put the powder into, add water, and set in the sun). Four days in, one of the traps is 3/4 full
Ewwww. Hubby's job to clean those out, thank goodness.
Even the kids are complaining about the flies and they usually don't care.
I'm considering taking a photo of the trap and posting it. It'd go really well with that one of the snake on the Christmas wreath (whose pic was that...it'd make a great Christmas card)...welcome to Australia...this is the stuff NOT in the tourist brochures.

Love the Timbits in your avi by the way. I work with a doctor called Tim and I've given him Timbit as a nickname.

Just imagine how bad it would be if you weren't using those traps! A few of those around your property are meant to reduce the fly population considerably in your area... I reckon we should all get them.

The Fly Catching System plus attractant. I bought them at Bunnings. They have stacks and stacks of them.
Hubby swears we're getting all the neighbors' flies now too. LOL. He wants to ditch them for a week and see if it makes a difference.
Editing to add a couple of photos:

That's about day four/five. They say not to let the liquid dry up but no advice on what to do when the trap is one mass of wiggling flies. Like I'm going to take the lid off and add water. LOL.
The photos were taken at 7:15 in the morning. By afternoon, there is a cloud of flies hovering around them, maybe ten on the lid at a time, and the inside of the trap is fodder for horror movies, all buzzing and climbing flies.
It's hubby's job to empty them. I had years of changing mucky diapers, so the least he can do is deal with rotting flies.

You definitely get years where they are a lot worse than others.
So far in Melbourne this year it's been good.
Flys are definitely the worst aspect of Australia in my book.
