That was kind of the point - the UK press is bloody awful, but the Australian press seems plum the depths just that little bit harder. A combination of lies, racism, stupidity and just that extra bit of vicious incompetence. The only reason they wouldn't have been listening to voicemail messages would be because they weren't smart enough to think of it, or copy it.
I'm buggered if I know how so many topics turn into 'the grass is greener on my side'!

I'm lucky enough not to read newspapers, or watch the news, consequently I've not got a clue what's happening around the globe, and I have no journalist telling me how I should feel about world events. The up side of this is that I speak as I find, with no preconceptions, the down side is... erm nope no down side, I'm happy as a pig in shit. Why get bothered by things you can't change? and why let someone else feed you bullshit?

Mate, you're flogging a dead horse. Both countries have the particular brand of 'journalism' you're talking about and any comparative research study, light-weight or in-depth, would be hard pressed to find one 'worse' than the other.

It's BE. I think that most threads end up that way eventually. Usually just after the Nazis are mentioned...

Personally I stick with the ABC, BBC, and The Guardian.

The way I see it, is that Australia has a sort of battler - but dangerously, 'half serious', (if incompetent) tabloid press with a battler -everyman agenda. Sort of The Express. The UK has a truly, gutter, farcical, comical tabloid press. (It also has the quite niche, in some ways, Daily Mail - I am not aware of any equivalent anywhere!)
