:eek::rofl:

Our movers arrived at 8.45am - OH and I had been packing all night without going to bed and in fact I was still deciding which books I couldn't bear to part with:rofl:. They were with us till 5pm on the dot. It was really hot and sunny and midway through the day, by which time we were delirious with sleep deprivation, OH went out to back garden to mow the lawn, just to stay awake!

It is the weirdest feeling to watch complete strangers pack all your stuff...I think it was company policy that they had to be totally responsible for your goods so there are no issues with something breaking because the householder didn't pack it properly. Anyway, boy were we glad when they left, because the situation was so surreal.

The most bonkers part of the whole thing was that I couldn't find my keyboard cable anywhere (we'd stupidly had a holiday in Canada and arrived home only a day or two before the packers = very disorganised) but as the removal team literally drove down the drive, I sat on the keyboard cable:rofl: I had to carry the damn thing over in my handluggage several months later. Also - bless them - they thoughtfully packed the novel I was reading and had been eagerly looking forward to finishing when they went (I was about 20 pages shy of the end of The Kite Runner)... I had to wait several months to finish it, which ruined the momentum just a touch.

Anyway, hope the packing fairy is watching over you Jen - good luck

Well, the saga continues...they say bad luck comes in threes? Well here's our three! lol

1) Pickfords Lorry arrived, a little late, but hey ho....and it got STUCKKKKKKK IN THE SNOWWWWWWWWWWW and we'd to get the builder/farmer bloke to bring down his big red pully jobby thingy and tug it out of the snow!!! Well, he got it tugged out and packing could get underway, woo hoo!

2) Simon went to get milk, fresh bread and bacon for the packers, cos we're nice like that, and on his way back, HE CRASHED THE CAR!!! OMG NOOOO....and it was about to be sold this coming weekend, ARGHHHHHHHHHH :curse:

3) Well, by this stage we though there'll be something else (bad luck in threes you seeeeee)...and the packers had left so there couldn't possibly be anything else go wrong?!?! COULD THERE??!?!?!?!?! Well there was...we brought the laptop back down to connect to the web for a wee browse and ARGHHHHHHHHH PIPEX have cut off our broadband, 15 BLEEDING DAYS EARLY!!!! ARGHHHH (AGAIN)

End of rant...container arrives 2moro, then it's GO BYE BYES STUFF! Oh and I go back to school in the morning, ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHH :curse:

That's all for now folks lolololol :sneaky:

Hi Jen

We had an awful move which went badly from the UK end. The summary was basically that it was delayed by others then took two days longer than planned and we had the people we were selling to waiting outside with their stuff when we were still packing up. I had a call into work so my wife and I met at Heathrow at about 23.30 the night before we flew out, having completed the sale just a few hours before.

Six months later, sitting in the pool sipping something with bubbles in on Christmas day as the temperature reached 38, we (almost) laughed about it!!

Hang in there. It will all be worth it!!

Cheers

Hi Jen,

It'll all pass .... I remember our moving week as well, really stressful. And then I had to spend nearly two weeks with my mother-in-law (aka The Witch).

By the time we arrived in Oz, I was totally worn out.

Over two years later and those days are just a funny story. It was all worth it. Christmas in the sun is fantastic. I look at all those photos of the UK in the snow and I am so glad I have escaped the cold :D.

Thanks folks, in all honesty yesterday we just laughed each time something bad happened, and tried to make light of it, but the final straw came when the laptop was switched back on only to find out Pipex had cut us off, over a fortnight early!!! GRRRRR!! That poor wee girl on the other end of the phone kinda got an earful, though I did apologise saying I knew she was just the 'middle man' and that it wasnt actually her fault lol :o

Anyhoo, made it into school today, left @ 6 instead of 6.30 and got here just over an hour later...now just to stay awake the rest of the day and teach those pesky kids something lol

That's it, our container is gone, woo hoo, and our air freight, WOO HOO AGAIN! Now we're sitting in the lounge with two garden chairs, cardboard boxes as a 'coffee table' with a borrowed TV and sofa bed, the life of royalty for us lol

Oh and weirdly, for the first time in months I feel relaxed and at ease YAY!!! LOL

That's it, finally, my class and all of the children/parents now know that I'm leaving. I sat my class down this afternoon and starting off with the following:

'In two weeks from now, I won't be your teacher anymore...' then I choked up and started to sob a little...they didn't know what to do! lol

Then a few of them burst into tears and ran up and hugged me...

Was quite weird to be honest...then I took my Primary 3's out to their parents @ 2pm only to return and find my Primary 4's in total hysterics, crying and comforting each other, I didn't know where to look!!! lol

I'd quite a few parents come up to me at the end of school wishing me all the best and saying how shocked they were that I was leaving...

Now for the onslaught of questions on Monday no doubt...roll on a fortnight then I'm outta there! WOO HOOOOOO!!! LOL

AWWWWW. Kids can really choke you up. Good luck with all those goodbyes. Take lots of tissues and don't wear mascara unless it is industrial strength- you'll look like a panda!
OMG it is really happening!!!! I was so relieved when our container went, and we went to MIL's for a week whilst waiting for our house to complete. That was nerve wracking, (waiting for completion, not MIL) but when we got on the plane I think I grinned like an idiot for most of the flight. I spent the first few days here with very sore cheek muscles!

Could anything else go wrong?! Well, yes, maybe...we're now waiting to see if the electric shower has died, or if the heater we've currently placed in the loft will help ease the problem (might be frozen pipes), please say a little prayer for us as it'd be one expense we could really seriously do without! ARGHHHHHHHHHHH :curse:
