STILL not allowed to tell them!

Kids are back on Monday 4th, I'm not going back til Wednesday 6th because Pickfords are here for those first two days....APPARENTLY they're sending a letter out to the parents on the Friday, the 8th of January...A FORTNIGHT BEFORE I LEAVE!!! GRRRRRRRRRRRRR If any parents ask why I didn't tell them sooner I'll be saying 'THEYYYYY wouldn't let me, ahem' lol

I wonder why they don't want parents to know until the last minute. Odd.

They just didn't want to upset the applecart, weird eh! Personally, before Christmas would've been better, to let them 'digest' the changes ahead. It's not like they haven't sorted a replacement for me, a girl who works in the school already, a retired secondary teacher who does music/covers when we're out on courses etc. Aw well....what can you do eh! hmmmm

Well at the end of the day I've asked on several occasions to be able to tell them. I had parent interviews in December, which would've been the perfect time to tell the parents, face to face, one on one, SHOWING THEM A BIT OF RESPECT, but OOOOOHHHH NO! I'm covered, I've done nothing wrong, though the parents will suddenly start realising things like 'That's why she hasn't got her wee honda civic anymore, that's why she was carrying loads of boxes out to her car, that's why she's been on another planet all year!' HAHA LOL

Always amazes me how they can get it so wrong in education.

The important thing is all the good you've done for the kids over the years Jen.

Hey, we'll be meeting again soon:thumbsup:

Re: The 'Jen1977ni' Thread!

It is hard Jen- same thing happened to me when I left teaching- wasn't allowed to tell the parents until the last minute, and it made me feel bad, and the school look bad as all sorts of nasty rumours started when I "disappeared". Mind you, I wasn't emigrating, I'd had a baby, gone back to work and it was killing me, and school wouldn't let me go part time, so I had to resign at Christmas, then come back in Jan to hand over to the new teacher, but without being paid! Why on earth they couldn't let me tell the parents I don't know. It is really silly.
Hope that you get to tell them soon, and make it clear that you would have told them earlier, but policy got in the way.
