Once sexually active, there's a chance you already have it and don't know you have it, so don't bother to vaccinate.

Honestly, I think that's very flawed logic. So many people will not have the virus, why TF shouldn't you vaccinate and cover them too?

I'm not a medical professional, and I haven't read up on any long-term side-effects (am always mindful of these when new drugs and vaccines are released) but IMHO this is one hell of a breakthrough; if we can prevent one cancer, hopefully one day we can prevent more.

I imagine that they are trying to effect some sort of 'improvised risk assessment relative to cost and effectiveness' kind of exercise?

Very hit and miss at best I would imagine?

Just checked and my 40+ friend is paying $700 (SGD roughly same as AUD) for 3 injections over 6 months.

I think older women should be given the opportunity to have them, even if they have to pay. If it were an issue for me, I'd have them. I had some pre-cancerous cells removed in my twenties and it wasn't a pleasant experience - the operation or the wait for results.

I think she's a goodun. Never pretended to be anything other than she is, had a rough start, a golden opportunity to get on the TV and is one of the very few from BB to still be around and be a better person for it imo anyway.

After having a several of my family die of cancer I wouldn't wish it on anyone!

I also have not been a fan but she is so young and it's really sad, I wish her and her family the best.

This immigration stress sometimes gets to you but when you read something like what is happening to poor Jade I feel very lucky to be able to have the opportunity to move to Oz. There was an article in the Daily Mail a couple of weeks ago where Jade said all she wanted was to be well and move to Australia with her two lovely boys. She said all she wished was to see them happy playing in nice weather in their flip flops! Hits home a bit then.

Yes, of which there are tests for... Just thought I'd add the OC stuff to the 'awareness' thing. :)

Well my friend is 23 and never had a smear so I am taking her to the doctors next week, we are both going for our appointments. My friend said she wasnt going to bother and then I told her about Jade, she wants me to go with her and thats fine - Ill get mine done afterwards.

Then in March its my mammogram.

Time to kick my own arse and forget my fears and take this seriously.:o

I just booked one this morning too. Haven't had one for nearly 3 years.... Nothing more important than your health.

At least the negative news is prompting some positive reactions. That's good.

My wife just had a scare but it turned out not to be cervical cancer. We breathed a big sigh of relief.

Yes indeed, but unfortunately doesn't detect every case, however has reduced the number of deaths greatly.
