I should drain the pool a bit later, just can't remember how they said to do that. It hasn't been needed before.

Deadly serious hat on now.

Reports yet again of children playing in flood water. Doesn't help when the COurier Mail publishes them too, which is what happened in the last lot up the Sunshine Coast, but please, please, keep your kids away from the water. Its too easy for them to slip and fall, too easy for a rush of water to come through and they get swept away.

That goes for adults too!

Last year an 18 year old died while body surfing in the storm drain. This happened a few blocks from our place.

Somewhere in the house I have a picture the local newspaper printed of someone on a surf board in the storm drain. I had to cut it out because I just couldn't believe that people actually did that while floods were happening.

You have to wonder sometimes don't you. Being caught by floods is one thing, but deliberately going into them is crazy - not only risking their own lives but the rescuers lives as well.

I imagine that a lot of snakes will be on the move now too, so God knows what the chances of coming across one in floodwater are?

A 3.4 per cent rise was recorded in Brisbanes total dam storage level overnight.

The heavy rains will continue until at least until Friday, with strong winds and dangerous seas expected to develop overnight.
