Ipod Docking/Speaker System
#1
Hey Guys,
Just wondered if anyone had bought any of the Ipod docking/speaker system thingies and what they think of it?
We had one of those £20 stations which was fine for use in the study whilst on the PC but the sound was not up to a normal stereo (hence price).
Thinking along the lines of the Bose units or something with a good sound as it would mean the money we would save on buying a normal stereo can be used on one instead.
Going to nip into the Apple shop over the next few weeks to have a listen but any advice would be great.
Cheers

I haven't heard any of them but I would defo go for the Bose one if its within your price range. You can't really go wrong with Bose stuff. I'd love the Bose docking station myself but cant really part with the cash.

I've got the Bose SoundDock, great sound but it comes at a price.

I am looking forward to having a listen to the unit now.

Just checked the Bose site and its at $449 converting our money that would cost around £180 which does not seem too bad if the sound is as good as most people are saying.
Will have to do a search to try and get a better price in Brisbane or off the net.

Logitech mm50 ipod dock and speakers. rechargeable intergrated battery means you can use on the go, plugs in and charges ipod and the sound is very impressive indeed with remotes and so on and a neat carrying case. I tested heaps of them and this was the best.
Oh - they come in black too if you have a black ipod and fit nano and bigger ipods.

Holy smoke,
Just been to the retail world at sunny Rotherham and the guy in comet did me a demo.........of the soundDock.
The sound was unbelievable, and at BuyMac.com.au - $419 (£166) I think I am sold. I will take the Mrs down at the weekend to see what she thinks as she gets the casting vote

Hi
If you have a home stereo, you can just buy the AV kit to plug in - sound top notch........

The reason behind considering getting something like the SoundDock is so we don't get a stereo and use that extra money towards a decent docking system for our Ipod. We are leaving all our CD's in the UK for a good while we are looking at other options.
But as you say we could buy a stereo and plug the Ipod in that's another option to cinsider, I saw a few mini hifi's that were "Ipod Ready" usb ports etc.

At home we have a surround sound system for the tv and we got a AV kit - the sound from it's quality... I was going to buy a bose but for the money you should buy a home surround kit and the just get the AV lead - £5 from mapplins.

Sorry - appear to have strayed to the wrong country! But I have Bose Soundock and the sound is awesome - i would highly recommend it. JBL do one too that is supposed to be pretty impressive too. The Bose would take on some hi end hi fi systems IMO

I have heard the Bose systems on a couple of occasions, and they are very very good.
Personally I prefer Logitech (mainly because they come in Black)
If you have a laptop, why dont you use all your music through iTunes, and play it over a set of Logitech Z-10 speakers. (2.0 system)
They are are a bit cheaper, and have amazing sound (personally think better than Bose). Its also a great addition to the laptop sounds in general.
