Re: I got the dreaded phone call
Hi hun
I really feel for you, best wishes to your Mum. Doctors found a lump in my MIL breast during her routine mamogram as well just two months ago. She had a biopsy but they didn't know what it was so she had an op and results back Thursday just gone and they removed all the lump and it was all clear non cancerous. The wait to find this out has been awful. I don't know what we would have done if we had not been in the UK, it must be so hard for you. |
Re: I got the dreaded phone call
Sorry to hear about your Mum. We had similar news about my father recently and I know just how you feel. My Dad has just had surgery for advanced colon cancer and the doctors are still deciding whether or not to do any further treatment (radiation or chemo). It does kind of knock you for a loop at first, doesn't it? Although you are this far away, you can still keep in touch and if need be it's only a flight away to see her.
Good luck to your family. Dorothy |

My mum phoned this morning to say they found a cancerous lump on her annual mammogram this week :( Shes having it removed on 2nd July - apparently its tiny and she will hopefully only need radio therapy afterwards - but its just that 'C' word isnt it. Life f***ing sucks sometimes. Hope all goes well...........karma sent! xxxxxxxx |

Sorry to hear your news, treatments have come a long way now and sounds like they have caught it early.
An ex colleagues daughter, who is just 20, has just found out that she has breast cancer. She went to the docs last August who said it was just a cyst. As it was still there last month she went for tests and found it was cancer. She had her boob off 2 weeks ago. Her consultant says he has never treated anyone so young before. But she is trying to get on with it as best she can its knocked the stuffing out of her mum though. I wish your mum all the best and hope she will be fighting fit soon. Hugs Joex kezx |

[quote=Mrs Jackaroo;4921356]Ah thanks! :)
At the moment I'm considering whether or not to go back there to be with her for the op and to help her afterwards. She lives with her ex boyfriend (long story) who is going on holiday 2 days before her op so she wont have anyone at home with her. I'd also like to be with her through it anyway (for both of us). I keep reminding myself - shes lucky its been caught early, very early, very lucky :) Sorry to hear about your Mum. Please make up your mind quickly if you are going over. I got word last Friday that my Mum had died. I've got a shocking 'flu so can't go, so 2 of my sons are. They spent 2 hours in the travel agents on Saturday trying to get flights. They fly tonight, together 'til Dubai, then 1 to Heathrow, 1 to Gatwick, meet up in Gatwick for flight to Scotland. So please book soon so that you get the flight you want and hopefully cheaper than $3000! |

Thanks. She had a good innings. Would have been 98 in August. Sure she would have seen her 100th, still lived on her own, had she not fallen and hit her head causing a cerebral haemorrhage. Still really sad whatever age though. xx |
Re: I got the dreaded phone call
Sorry to hear about your mum Gibbo - very sad.
AS hubby works for Qantas I'll hopefully be flying staff travel - no perks to that only that its a bit cheaper - probably means I'll get bumped off at singapore and have to wait there for 12 hours or something too! Oh well thats life. Take care Rach xxxx |

Its frightening really. On top of that she is having to have eggs taken out now too so that she may be able to have kids in the future.

Life f***ing sucks sometimes. I got that phone call 4 weeks ago. She had her operation two weeks ago. Lucky she doesn't need radio therapy, but has to take medication for the next five years. Best of luck for your mum next week. Julie |
