People don't pull over when it drizzles or rains UK style.

I've only seen this happen in torrential rain and it's because of poor visibility and feeling that they don't want the stress of keeping up to speed in those conditions. It's usually only for a few minutes, as torrential rain usually eases off pretty quickly.

Gotta watch out for the green skies ...
I've been in some heavy rain in my time (in other tropical climes too) but I will admit to stopping in heavy rain last year, this was going over the Story Bridge, I didn't want to go over it but I was on the only straight road I knew in bugger-all visibility. Pulled off, headed for an undercover apartment car-port and watched the other drivers stuggle. 10 minutes later it was over.
I have also stopped in the MG, that was more to do with the efficiency of the ancient wipers than anything else.
Safety first, if I get home without a prang then I couldn't give a monkey's what anyone thinks.

Looks like it's not just the mid-day sun that attracts mad dogs

Never seen anyone pull over in the rain here ... but then it rains here more than once every five years (more like once every five hours).

We had to pull over on the Hume Freeway (Victoria) the other day because of the high winds. If we'd carried on we'd have run into the huge tree that had fallen across both lanes of our carriageway.

Yup, I drive according to conditions ... at the risk of sounding like a dull 'Advanced Driving Course' disciple ... there are plenty of ways of spending your time but taking or giving insurance details isn't top of my list.

Aye, well there are degrees ... I agree some people tend to be over-cautious ... on the other hand I see plenty of people barrelling up and down the M1 at 110 through thick and thin ... usually clinging onto the bumper in front because it's the only thing they can see ...

Mate, I have seen some idiocy in the UK but the stuff I have seen on the M1 just beggars belief ... I car-share with the MIL (it's OK, I can handle it) and we regularly see people just pull into the T2 at a snails pace when they decide they don't want to wait any more ... and this is into traffic doing 100 and nowhere to go in an emergency.
I'm just glad I get on/off just North of Beenleigh because I couldnae take any more captn'!
