We have just put our UK house on the market, and face the difficult situation of selling while already in Oz (our house is currently tenanted), in a supposedly 'flat' market.....so, just wondering how many have actually sold in the past few months???
BTW, good luck to all those on the selling roller coaster (very stressful)

Been on now for over 6 months - not a sniff of an offer. All doom and gloom but prices definately going down. Plenty of people have dropped their prices heavily but still not selling!!!! Not good for those of us needeing to sell for Oz

Yep ours has been on market for 3 weeks, advised to drop 20K,
not one viewing, a friend of ours who is an estate agent is sooo worried at the moment hes told his wife to up her job at moment to 5 days instead of 3 because hes worried he wont be able to cover his full mortgage
He seriously says its bad and whatever offer you get, take it and enjoy new life in oz.

Two sales on our property fell through last year but third time lucky and we finally completed in January. We were told that we were very, very lucky. Only thing now is the poor conversion rate to dollars. Better to have that problem though so not complaining!
Good luck with yours.

We must be lucky as ours is going through at the moment, however I wont be holding my breath until we exchange and even envisage another lower final price coming in days before, who knows.

Ours went in the local journal on Thursday & we have got viewers this afternoon at 3pm. Going off to clean now until 2.30pm!! Fingers crossed, with everything in the news didn't expect any viewers.
Good luck to every body selling!

we accepted an offer in Nov £5k under what it was on for but realistically £5k more than we expected.
completed a month ago. They were first time buyers.

We accepted an offer for £13,000 under original asking price but it's taking longer than it should to go through.
I'm very nervous about it as we've already had one sale fall through

We accpeted an offer in August last year from a first time buyer who was very keen that he move in ASAP. This was our 3rd accepted offer by the way, which was for £18k less than we first put it up for (but I think estate agents were being over optomistic anyway).
We finally completed in January, 5 days after the completion date, after we had to issue him with a legal notice to complete. It was a nightmare, but at least we never have to see him or the house again.
Good luck

we sold 2 weeks ago, we are in aus anyway so it's a good job!!
We had to reduce it though, by 20,000 - we were relieved TBH
Good luck to everyone...we know how frustrating it is
If it's any consolation....it may be interesting to know that there seems to be a bit of a turn in the Gold coast and Brissie too.
Estate agents saying it's a buyers market at the mo??!! - not too many houses selling with the looks of things too!!

We have been on market since end of Jan, spent 3 months painting and doing house up and have in this time had 27 viewings and not one offer we have reduced £10K then another £15K and are now considering whether we should drop more as we will have to validate otherwise by October and that will cost at least £7k for five of us. Market is crap at the moment.

We sold within 6 weeks. Had loads of viewers and one really great offer. We are in Aberdeen and so far the prices are still rising. I really cant see that continuing though. I am glad we decided to go on the market early (we dont have visa yet).
It must be awful for you lot having to cut your prices, and we are not speaking a few thousand either. Must be heartbreaking!
I do feel for you all and lets hope we all get out of this country very soon.

Last year we were very lucky as we were tipped off last year by a 'friend in the know' that the housing market would be worsening in 2008, so we sold in August and went into furnished rental very close to where we work so we have no commuting costs now- just wished we'd had opened an OZ account and transferred the money last year at 2.46 oh the frustration!
We had already neutralised our house decor (though getting those last few DIY niggles done was a pain) and included all our furniture in the asking price including the bed frame apparently this makes it very attractive particularly to first time buyers. We also looked around the area and deliberately marketed it a few thousand below anyone else's asking prices, our house had trebled in value so this seemed minimal.
We sold and completed within 6 weeks.
I'm glad we moved out of the area as though we enjoy where we live now more - it is still not enough to keep us from trying OZ.

We applied for a 175 visa (paper) in November but are currently going the 457route as our employers want us sooner.

we've accepted an offer £10,00 below our original asking price after 5 weeks on the market and only 2 viewers.
however we are on a pretty busy road so we know getting people through the door would be tricky, but also that the house is great so once people actually looked at it they would most likely be impressed.
We're keeping everything firmly crossed and feeling v lucky.
