But to rely on it non-stop for information to use in an online conversation/argument is a bit too much.

I have more confidence in information cullled from a Google search than a load of half-arsed bollocks spouted by armchair managers who glean their dazzling insights from hod carriers and delivery men.

  • Australia hasn't even qualified for the World Cup since 1974 - and even then, we didn't score any goals

  • We've just beaten Japan with a very respectable 3-1

That's why we're so smug.
FIFA world rankings are practically meaningless; the difficulty of the opposition is not taken into account as much as it should be, so if Japan beat Nepal 10-0 in a World Cup qualifier then they get mucho points.

USA are ranked five! No way are they anywhere near as good as many quality European sides below them.

I think Aus could pull off a result against Brazil, but they'll have to play the game of their lives to do so. I hope they succeed though!

Croatia looked impressive in their last game, so they will be tough to beat by the looks of things.

I don't. I use it when people have asked for specific information, and when people are mouthing off without checking their facts.

Now get off my case, sunshine.

You don't always use it when people ask you for specific information, you rely on it when you are stuck for a riposte.
