Thank God I have never had to do that! There's even less jobs in the papers...
and in my experience, being on both sides of the fence - door knocking can't give me the return a good agent will. Even a bad agent will get you a job - if you do well at interview and the skills mix is good. They're just a conduit. In fact, it's a piece of piss. An agent gets you a job for nothing. Heck they even take you out for a feed sometimes. Sure they get money - they're welcome to it.

That's exactly right. A good agent and I mean a good agent has access to jobs that you would otherwise never hear/know about. They always have their ears to the ground and usually know about jobs coming up three months ahead of time.

A good agent is worth their weight in gold. (but obviously I'm going to say that!)
