Update of the Austravel saga................................as of yet they still have not confirmed that our friends are on the Wed morning Singapore Airlines flight despite 2 phone calls to them.
They are now blaming 'admin' for not sending out the confirmation..............Jules is trying to ring them again to get confirmation.
They have now spun them a load of bullshit and said they can't get them on a later flight back so they will still have to fly home on the original date thus losing 2 days holiday.
Stop press just recieved a text from Jules tickets have been e-mailed to them and they are now going home half a day EARLIER than they were originally booked on.
Just going on to Singapore airlines website to get further info . Will post layer.

Just checked the Emirates website still seats available and have advised Jules of this.
The guy from Austravel has admitted it was their decision NOT to put them on an Emirates flight but to hold out for the next Singapore flight which will cut their holiday by 2.5 days!!!!!
Oh and on the subject of upgrades their answer............... because it wasn't Singapore Airlines fault they can't have an upgrade because that would cost the airline..................what a load of crap!!!! Austravel should foot the bill!!!!
Will keep you informed of developments but up to now they have got tickets for tomorrows Singapore Airlines flight leaving Manchester in the morning.

happen to us a few years ago once bitten twice shy, we when to book with a local travel agent thought we would help local business, tryed to book our seats and was told you have to do that at the airport did,ent know at the time you could do it on line, we were flying out to newzealand with some friends of ours, when we got to air port they wanted us to sit one end of the plane and our friends the onther so we up graded to business so now we always book though air newzealand you know where you are then,
we never got any money back was told same thing the person no longer works for us
i went on my own last xmas to nz because my wife was ill they refunded her ticket as soon as i booked in , thats what you call service

They are flying out of Manchester this morning (Wed) and will arrive in Brissie at 7.30 tomorrow night.
Up to now Austravel are insisting they can't get them on a later flight back to the UK which means they will have lost 3 days of their holiday!!!
We have been checking and there are plenty of seats on at least 3 Emirates flights back to the uk which would give them their 3 days back but Austravel aren't budging
Just had an e-mail from another friend in the UK who has visitors going to them for Xmas and have booked through Austravel and guess what.............................................. .they have just checked with Singapore Airlines and their flight has changed and nobody from Austravel has contacted them either.....................seems to be a common theme running through this
My advice to anybody travelling with Austravel would be to double check EVERYTHING right up to the day before departure. It could save a lot of trauma.
Once our friends get safely in the air the e-mails are going to start flying...........Austravel, ABTA, Watchdog........in fact anybody we can think of. If anybody can think of anyone else please let us know.
Nobody should be treated like this and if we can save anybody else the upset and get justice for what our friends have gone through we will do it.

I guess you could write to both Singapore and Emirates to let them know a)of the mess up with Singapore in the beginning and b)that Austravel wouldn't use Emirates as an alternative even though there were seats available? Not sure that it would do anything but lets them know of incompetencies.......

I would assume that the Austravel agents are commission based. My ex worked at Flightcentre here in Aus and any mistakes such as this had to paid for by the agents themselves out of their commission! As in this case the agent is no longer around then it's a decision for the branch as to whether they stump up...and in this case they seem to have gotten away with doing what will cost them the least at maximum disruption to the customer.
